NEW DELHI: Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla said on Wednesday that the budget session of Parliament has been adjourned to February 10 by one day. Otherwise, the session, which started on January 31 and ended on February 9, was scheduled to terminate. Speaking on Tuesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi announced that the government would present a "white paper" contrasting the conditions of the Indian economy prior to and following the BJP's victory over the Congress in 2014. NEW DELHI: 'Valmiki' was added to the list of Scheduled Castes in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in 1956, and the Lok Sabha on Tuesday took up a bill to alter that order. A bill to add the communities of "Gadda Brahmin," "Koli," "Paddari Tribe," and "Pahari Ethnic Group" to the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to Jammu and Kashmir was also taken up by the Lok Sabha. The Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order Bill 2023 was moved for discussion and passage in the House by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar. The Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Bill 2023 was introduced in the House by Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda.According to officials, the Valmiki community—a synonym for Chura, Bhangi, Balmiki, and Mehtar—has been suggested for inclusion at serial number 5 in the list of Scheduled Castes of Jammu and Kashmir's Union territory. The "Valmiki" addition to the Schedule of the Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order, 1956 is proposed by the Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023. New Delhi, Feb 6: On Tuesday, members of the opposition in the Lok Sabha asked the administration to call early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. During a discussion on The Jammu and Kashmir Local Bodies Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Hasnain Masoodi (NC) made a call for the early holding of elections in the union territory. He claimed that before the Supreme Court had to get involved, the national government ought to have made a decision regarding the polls. A few months ago, the highest court ordered the Election Commission to schedule assembly elections for September of this year in Jammu and Kashmir.Masoodi stated On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that important choices will be made by his cabinet. New Delhi, Feb 6: A bill to give reservations to members of Other Backward Classes in Jammu and Kashmir's panchayats and municipalities as well as to align local body rules in the Union territory with the Constitution's provisions was brought up for consideration by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Jammu and Kashmir Local Bodies Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was introduced by Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai and is scheduled to be passed by the House. On Monday, the bill was presented to the House. The Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act of 2000, the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act of 2000, and the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act of 1989 are all intended to be amended by this bill. According to Rai, the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act's provisions regarding the state election commissioner "are at variance" with the Constitution. Hasnain Masoodi, a member of the National Conference, participated in the discussion and stated that the government has not set a date for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which became a union territory after Article 370 was repealed and bifurcated. He stated that the Supreme Court's decision to impose an upper bound on the holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is a source of "shame" for the government. India To See Investment Of USD 67 Billion In Next 5-6 Years In Energy Sector: PM

Goa, Feb 6: Inviting international investors to share in India's success story, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that the country will witness investments totaling USD 67 billion in the energy industry during the next five to six years. Here, Modi opened the second edition of India Energy Week, stating that the nation's economy is expanding at a rate of more than 7.5% and will soon overtake the United States as the third largest in the world. He said that the country is anticipated to raise its refining capacity from 254 MMTPA (million metric tonne per annum) to 450 MMTPA by 2030, inviting international firms to join in India's energy sector expansion. "The energy sector in India will receive an investment of USD 67 billion over the next five to six years," he declared. The prime minister went on to say that India is making previously unheard-of financial investments in the energy sector. He added that by 2045, the nation's primary energy consumption would have doubled. According to Modi, India is the fourth-biggest importer of LNG and the third-largest user of LPG and crude oil. According to the prime minister, India's energy management plan has resulted in lower costs for petrol and diesel over the past two years, despite global challenges. He stated that every analyst believes that India is the biggest economy with the highest rate of growth and will soon overtake the United States as the third largest in the world. He stated that India's GDP growth is currently more than 7.5%, which is higher than what international organisations had predicted. According to him, government reforms are contributing to an increase in domestic natural gas output, and India aims to increase the proportion of gas in its energy mix to 15% by 2030. He mentioned that in the last ten years, the percentage of ethanol blended into fuel has risen from 1.5 to 12 percent. By 2025, he said, petrol will have 20 percent ethanol blended in. ROURKELA, Feb 6: On Tuesday, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, is expected to arrive in Odisha.
