Lt Gen Rajiv reviews operational preparedness at frontline unit near LoC

KUPWARA: Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, commander of the Chinar Corps, visited the frontline unit in the Machil sector close to the line of control on Tuesday to assess operational readiness and the counter-infiltration grid in the Kupwara area of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement from the Chinar Corps of the Army. "ChinarCorps Cdr visited the frontline unit along the LoC in Machil, Kupwara to review the Counter Infiltration Grid and Operational Preparedness and complimented them for the successful conduct of Op Gucchinar at Machhal on September 29-30 where two infiltrating terrorists were eliminated & large quantity of war-like stores recovered," China Corps posted on microblogging site, X.This happened a few days after security forces killed two militants in the Machil region during an intelligence-based operation. The Indian military and the Jammu and Kashmir Police collaborated to thwart an infiltration attempt in the Machil region of the Kupwara district, according to an earlier statement from the Army on Saturday evening. After the intelligence-based operation, the forces conducted a sweep of the area and found the bodies of the two terrorists. In addition, two AK series rifles and ammo were also found at the scene, according to the Army. "The ambush party maintained perfect tactical surprise, and a gunfight was ensured where terrorists attempted to cross the LOC while hiding behind thick vegetation, however the firefight resulted in the instantaneous death of one terrorist. The second terrorist was later neutralised in the subsequent gunfight, it was added. The statement read, "During a search of the area, the bodies of two terrorists were recovered." According to the statement, additional searches turned up two AK Series rifles, 90 rounds of AK ammo, a pistol, two hand grenades, 2,100 Pakistani rupees in cash, winter clothes, war supplies, and other items.The Army stated in its statement that "the operation is ongoing." The Indian Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and several intelligence agencies provided information about infiltration efforts made by a group of 2-4 terrorists in the Macchal sector of Kupwara, according to the release. SRINAGAR: On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Police objected to a video report that claimed DySP Adil Mushtaq was engaged in the Kokernag encounter and called it "inside betrayal". "It has come to our attention that a video news item supposedly from the news organisation Bharat TAK has been uploaded, indicating that DySP Adil Mushtaq is implicated in the Kokernag terror incident as a result of insider betrayal. This video news is untrue, according to ADGP Kashmir's post on X. He said that DySP Adil Mushtaq was under investigation in the Srinagar district, not in Anantnag, for a completely unrelated case. Relevantly, DySP Adil Mushtaq, who had previously been detained on suspicion of corruption, was suspended on Sunday. According to ADGP Kashmir, "This kind of irresponsible journalism is also an act of criminal misconduct and is subject to legal action." DC asks departments to streamline, reinforce services in border areas

2 Fake Police Officers Arrested From Hotel In Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 3: Two fake police officers who were acting as a Police Inspector and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer were reportedly apprehended by Jammu Police on Tuesday. According to the police, the accused were taken into custody from a hotel in Jammu's Jewel neighbourhood. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kohli of Jammu, one guy reported two people threatening him while posing as an IPS official and an Inspector to PS Nowabad. The victim said in his complaint that he had made friends with Kaiser Jeelani after meeting him in a hotel called Green Mint Gumat near the fish market. Kaiser Jeelani had introduced himself as an IPS officer on a social networking site. "When he walked into the room, he immediately noticed Kaiser Jeelani and a second individual wearing a police uniform with stars and posing as an inspector. The two harassed him and threatened to get his laptop from him. The two also issued a death threat to the plaintiff. In this regard, a case was filed at PS Nowabad under FIR number 166/2023 under sections 419/420/384/170/171 IPC, and an inquiry was initiated. Special PS Nowabad police teams under the direction of SP Kulbir Handa, DySP HQrs Dr. Sunniya Wani, and SHO PS Nowabad Surinder Raina made valiant efforts to locate and apprehend the suspects there.The two suspects who were taken into custody were Mohd Tanveer alias Arif Wani and Kaiser Shahnawaz Mir, both of Danger Pora, Baramulla. 3 soldiers injured, 2-3 militants trapped in Kalakote forests

RAJOURI, Oct 2: In a clash with two to three militants tonight at the Broh forests in the Kalakote tehsil of this border district, three Army soldiers were hurt. While search operations were being conducted in Broh by the Army, police, and paramilitary forces this afternoon, a contact with the militants was made tonight, resulting in a significant exchange of gunfire. Encounter breaks out between terrorists & security officials in Rajouri

RAJOURI: Terrorists and security personnel engaged in combat late on Monday night during a search operation in the Kalakote forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, according to officials.
