Mehbooba Hits Out At JK CS Over ‘Backdoor Appointments’ Remark

Jammu, Oct 6: Mehbooba Mufti, president PDP, slammed the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday for saying that "undeserving candidates were given government jobs in J&K through illegal and backdoor means" and demanded that, if true, an investigation be launched. I believe the chief secretary ought to feel bad for stating this. Let him act if this is the case. They do little and speak highly. In response to Arun Kumar Mehta's comment made on Thursday, Mufti informed reporters that employers cannot provide jobs for educated unemployed youth; rather, they can only remove individuals from their jobs.On Thursday, the chief secretary remarked, "I feel ashamed to say that over 2.50 lakh undeserving candidates were given government jobs in J&K through illegal and backdoor means." He was speaking at an event in Kupwara, in north Kashmir. He had claimed that now only deserving people were awarded government employment. Mufti urged the chief secretary to launch an investigation and make the names of those behind such appointments public. "If such a thing exists, he ought to identify the perpetrator. The appointments made through the back doors involve officers. With them are the NIA, CBI, and ED. Let them pursue legal action against those accountable, she said.Mufti questioned the hiring practises used by the current administration, notably for jobs like sub-inspectors, apprentice engineers, and staff in the finance division. She said that several businesses on the blacklist participated in hiring drives. We should have an answer from the chief secretary first. During their tenure, personnel from the Jan Shakti, SI, and financial departments were hired. They harmed the youth's prospects by hiring individuals from companies that were on the blacklist for employment. They are currently in court, she said.The PDP leader cited claims made by IAS official Ashok Parmer of the Jal Shakti department, who asserted a staggering Rs 13,000 crore "scam" in the division. She insisted that the Chief Secretary immediately address these charges. Such problems, according to her, are eroding public confidence and worsening the situation of educated unemployed people. "Allegations of fraud and irregularity should be discussed by him (chief secretary). This entire government is rife with corruption, she declared. [caption id="attachment_3633"…
