Srinagar, 1 September: Police on Friday asserted that the arrest of four suspects in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir broke up a cross-district "fake marriage" ring. Several reputable residents of the Kunzer region submitted an application that alerted the authorities to the case. According to the accusation, the accused were acting as intermediaries during wedding festivities, according to the police. They allegedly sent images of other young women via WhatsApp with the bogus claim that they were prepared for marriage. These people were successful in persuading the opposing side's victims to accept marriage proposals, fix the "mehar money," and make payments.Nevertheless, no weddings were consummated and the money was not reimbursed despite the financial transactions. It has been discovered that these gang of con artists selected their targets by meticulously selecting images of young women.
