Two miscreants booked under PSA in Baramulla, lodged in Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu: J&K Police

BARAMULLA: According to police, two miscreants were arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in the Baramulla area of North Kashmir and taken to Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal jail in Jammu on Monday. According to a statement released here, "Acting tough against ANEs Baramulla Police booked two persons namely Fayaz Ahmad Kumar alias Narshima son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Khanpora Baramulla & Safeer Ahmad Bhat alias Safeer Molvi son of Ab Majeed Bhat resident of Janbazpora Baramulla under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority." After being taken into custody, the booked individuals were placed in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. "Pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these persons and were involved in disturbance of L&O and subversion" according to the statement. Furthermore, "despite their involvement in many FIR's they did not mend their anti national & social-activities" , according to it. Snowfall In Higher Reaches Of Kashmir; Min Temp Above Freezing Point At Most Places

SRINAGAR, Jan 29: According to officials, Monday's lowest temperature in the valley stayed above freezing in most places, but there was new snowfall in many of the higher regions of Kashmir, and the lowlands saw torrential showers. According to officials, there was new snowfall on Monday in the north Kashmiri ski resorts of Gulmarg and Gurez as well as the upper reaches of Kupwara. They claimed that new snowfall has also fallen at the Sonamarg resort, which is located in the central Kashmiri region of Ganderbal. They said that there had been reports of snowfall in Drass in Ladakh Union Territory, on the Srinagar-Leh Highway, and in the Zojilla Axis.The authorities are pushing for the removal of snow from important roads using both personnel and equipment. Rain fell in spurts, battering the plains in the valley. Most of Kashmir's minimum temperatures have risen above freezing in recent days due to gloomy skies over the plains. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, reported a low temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius. The lowest recorded temperatures were minus 0.7 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam, 2.0 degrees Celsius in Qazigund, 0.5 degrees Celsius in Kokernag, and 1.7 degrees Celsius in Kupwara.With a low of -3.2 degrees Celsius, Gulmarg was the only location in the valley to experience below-freezing nighttime temperatures. For the next twenty-four hours, Jammu and Kashmir could get isolated to scattered light rain or snow, according to the weatherman. Over the following two days, there's a chance of widespread mild to moderate rain or snow, according to the report. The region is currently experiencing "Chilla-i-Kalan," a 40-day severe winter season that causes water bodies and pipes to freeze due to a cold wave and significant temperature drops.The last day of "Chilla-i-Kalan" is January 31. JKP committed to safety of people, says DGP Swain

JAMMU: Under the direction of Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have reiterated their dedication to public safety. At the Gulshan Ground in Jammu, DGP Swain gave the opening speech at a road safety awareness rally. He emphasised the joint efforts of the Transport Department, J&K Police, Jammu Three Sixty, and the District Administration to promote road safety. Speaking to attendees, police officers, and staff, DGP Swain praised the organisers for their effort, which immediately improves road user safety, particularly for drivers. He was also grateful to the public for their support of these projects, which served the community's interests more broadly. The top police officer emphasised the tragic circumstances in which people are left disabled and the preventable deaths that occur in traffic accidents. He emphasised that in order to solve this problem, several parties must work together. DGP Swain pledged sustained efforts, saying the J&K Police will examine accident causes in conjunction with other stakeholders, including the license-issuing body. He stated, "Regulatory changes will be implemented where necessary to enhance road safety," and he was certain that things would get better with honesty and good intentions. Successful diversion of Chenab River achieved at Ratle HE Project

KISHTWAR: With the Chenab River's diversion through the Diversion Tunnels at Drabshalla, the 850 MW Ratle HE Project in Jammu and Kashmir has reached a significant milestone. The river diversion will make it possible to isolate the dam region at the riverbed and begin the crucial task of digging and building the dam. In order to support the project's efforts to meet its May 2026 projected commissioning date, it will expedite project construction activities and help minimise delays. R K Vishnoi, the Chief Medical Director of NHPC, officially opened the River Diversion event. H Rajesh Prasad, the Principal Secretary (PDD); I D Dayal, the Chairman of RHPCL; Pankaj Mangotra, the MD of JKSPDC; NHPC Directors; A K Nauriyal, the CEO of RHPCL; and other dignitaries from NHPC and GoJK were present. Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL), a joint venture between NHPC Limited and GoJK with a 51:49 percent stake, is responsible for carrying out the Ratle Project. The 850 MW Ratle HE project is located in the Kishtwar District on the Chenab River.
