Panel set up to probe Doda bus accident

DODA: Officials said on Thursday that 39 people had died in the bus accident in Doda district, and that the Jammu and Kashmir government had formed a three-person panel to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident. On Wednesday, the bus in Doda district veered off the road and tumbled into a 300-foot ravine. After being taken to a hospital, twenty injured passengers passed away late on Wednesday night. A committee has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident near Assar in the Doda district, according to Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar.According to the officer, the committee will look into the incident and provide his office with a thorough inquiry report in a week. Dr. Ravi Kumar Bharti, additional district magistrate (ADM), Doda, superintending engineer, and assistant road transport officer are the members of the committee. Locals have attributed a number of accidents in the area to poor road conditions in the district, reckless driving, and overcrowding of vehicles. Fire sweeps through several houses in Doda; no causalities reported

DODA: In the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a large fire spread to multiple homes on Thursday, according to officials. Abdul Qayoom, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, stated, "We received information around 4:30 in the morning that a few houses in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district had caught fire and firefighters were rushed to the spot." Officials stated that five fire tenders were dispatched as soon as they received information, and the fire was put out. "Eight houses were damaged in the fire, according to the information we have received so far. We discovered during the preliminary investigation that a short circuit was the fire's origin," SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom stated. Officials added that there were currently no reports of any injuries or fatalities from the fire. More research is being done. 16 e-Rickshaws seized, 106 challaned in special drive in Jammu

JAMMU: Traffic Police City Jammu initiated a targeted campaign against e-rickshaws, overseen by Additional SP Rajpaul Singh and SSP Traffic Fiesel Qureshi. The entire city was traversed during the drive. Vikram Kumar, Farha Nishat, Satish, and their teams from DySP Traffic City South, North, and Rural laid special nakas at various locations. RCs, insurance policies, and driver's licences were among the documents examined during the drive. Under various sections of the MV Act, 106 challans were issued and 16 e-rickshaws were seized for operating without the required documentation. Jammu's traffic police have requested that all e-rickshaw drivers adhere to the designated route, obey traffic laws, and take care not to overcharge or impede other drivers' progress. Mysterious blast near temple in Poonch’s Surankote

POONCH: Authorities in the Poonch district's Surankote area reported on Wednesday that an unexplained explosion had occurred close to a temple. According to them, the explosion happened close to Shiv Mandir. Nevertheless, there were no immediate reports of any injuries or fatalities. An investigation by SHO Surankote verified the "mysterious explosion" and stated that a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been called to the scene. Shortly after the explosion, the area was roped off by police and security personnel. Reports state that at approximately 8:40 p.m., there was an explosion close to the temple, and everyone could hear it. But there have been no reports of casualties. Shrapnel was discovered on the temple walls following the explosion. Although investigations by security agencies and other security forces have begun, it is still unclear who is responsible for this blast. Additional sources claimed that since the explosion happened directly behind the temple, it might have been a grenade attack and that there might have been a plot to target minorities in Surankote. Police attaches property, vehicles of drug peddlers in Poonch

POONCH:In the frontier Poonch district on Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended a residential house and the vehicles of drug dealers. A spokesperson for the police said: "Police today attached one double -storied, residential house valuing in lakhs and motor vehicles jointly belonging to notorious drug peddlers." Section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985 names them as Mehmood Hussain, Zaffer Iqbal, and Javid Iqbal, sons of Talib Hussain, who are currently residents of Deri Dabsi and Kotian Mendhar, according to the spokesperson. The Poonch Police investigation and inquiry revealed the residential house and cars to be unlawfully acquired property, the spokesperson continued."The property was prima facie accured from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic Substances by the owners," the spokesperson continued. "This endeavour of the central government, with the objective of reaching the unreached, to generate awareness about tribal, rural and urban schemes, to interact with beneficiaries and enrolment of potential beneficiaries, will make a significant contribution in the socio-economic empowerment of the tribal community, poor, deprived and weaker sections of the society," the Lieutenant Governor was quoted as saying in an official announcement. The Lieutenant Governor reported on the initiatives taken by the UT Administration, spearheaded by Prime Minister Modi, to ensure the well-being of the tribal populace.According to him, the administration has made tribal welfare its top priority since August 2019 and has started a number of cross-sectoral projects aimed at empowering the tribal communities in J&K and UT. According to Sinha, the administration has made major progress towards the overall well-being of tribal communities. In order to address the focus areas for tribal districts under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, such as the eradication of sickle cell anaemia, enrollment in EKLAVYA, scholarships, titles to forest rights, self-help groups, and Van Dhan Vikas Kendra, he called for a combination of efforts from citizens, stakeholders, community leaders, social organisations, and administration. He instructed administrative staff members and district commissioners to concentrate on achieving individual forest rights saturation. Through video conference, beneficiaries from Rajouri and Bandipora thanked the Lt Governor for the welfare programmes and shared their experiences. On this occasion, the 'Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat' pledge was also given out. The outreach initiatives in the other districts will begin during the third week of November. 38 died 20 injured as bus falls into gorge in Doda

DODA: In Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Wednesday, a bus carrying passengers skidded off the road and rolled down into a 300-foot gorge, inflicting at least 38 fatalities and injuring 20, according to officials. According to reports, the bus with registration number JK02CN-6555 was carrying 58 passengers when it skidded off the Batote-Kishtwar national highway near Trungal-Assar and fell 300 feet downhill. According to the officials, a rescue operation has begun, and some bodies have been recovered. There will probably be more deaths. A police spokesperson stated that the bus was travelling from Kishtwar to Jammu when the accident happened at Trungal-Assar at approximately 11:50 am.Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal, the Public Relations Officer (Defence), said in a statement that 38 people were killed in the incident, of whom 32 were initially pronounced dead and 20 injured. "In a commendable display of promptness and coordination, the Indian Army, in collaboration with civil administration, conducted a swift rescue operation in response to a grievous accident on National Highway 244 at Assar, near Wani Mod, approximately 4 km from COB ASSAR towards Batote," according to him. According to Bartwal, the bodies are being transported to the Doda Civil Hospital and the Assar Primary Health Centre. He also stated that there were 58 people on board the unfortunate bus at the time of the incident. 37 people were slain and 19 injured, including four who were taken to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu, according to a statement made earlier by Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh. "This is a regrettable occurrence. The accident was allegedly caused by the bus not being driven on the correct side, Singh stated at this point. The bodies of some of the deceased will be given to their relatives after they have been identified. "We examined every detail of the car. Perhaps it wasn't being driven correctly. The car rolled down after jumping over the crash barriers, according to Singh. He said there will be an investigation into the incident. Both Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed their sorrow over the incident. "It is upsetting that a bus accident occurred in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. I send my sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones. Modi stated on X, "I hope the injured people heal as soon as possible. He declared that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) would provide an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each to the deceased's next of kin and Rs 50,000 each to the injured. I was deeply saddened to hear of the tragic bus accident in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed many precious lives. In the gorge where the bus accident occurred, the local government is in charge of the rescue effort. On X, Shah expressed, "My sincere condolences to the families of the departed and prayers for a quick recovery for the injured. The bus sustained severe damage as a result of the fall from a significant height, according to sources. They added that some of the injured passengers have been transported to hospitals and that the rescue effort involves not only locals but also members of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police. Four of the injured were airlifted to the GMC hospital in Jammu after they were initially taken to a hospital in Doda. The rescue effort is being immediately overseen by high ranking police and civil administration officials. According to the officials, the bus was carrying more passengers when it rolled into the gorge after overturning during a "U" turn. They also said that after some sections of the bus were cut away, the bodies were removed. According to the officials, some of the bodies had severe mutilations. Residents voiced concern about the state of the road, claiming that it not only contributed to this accident but also to a number of other tragedies in the past. The bus was travelling to Jammu from Kishtwar.
