Mercury drops after Snowfall, Pahalgam freezes at minus 11.9°C, Gulmarg minus 10°C

SRINAGAR: In the Kashmir valley and most of the Jammu division, the temperature fell below freezing on Monday following the season's largest snowfall. According to a representative of the meteorological service, Srinagar recorded a low of minus 0.4°C, down from minus 0.7°C the night before, and this is typical for the summer capital of J&K at this time of year. According to him, Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of - 1.4°C as opposed to minus 2.2°C the night before. According to the MeT official, the minimum temperature was 0.1°C higher than usual for Kashmir's gateway town. In contrast to the previous night's low of minus 3.5°C, Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 11.9°C, which was 5.7°C above average for the well-known south Kashmir resort.According to the official, Kokernag, located in south Kashmir, saw a minimum temperature of minus 3.3°C, down from minus 3.0°C the night before. The temperature was also 1.3°C below average for the area. According to the official, Kupwara town in north Kashmir saw a low of minus 0.9°C, down from minus 1.9°C the night before, and it was 1.1°C above average. According to the official, Gulmarg had a low of minus 10.0°C, down from minus 7.0°C the night before. The temperature was also 3.3°C higher than usual for the well-known north Kashmiri skiing resort. He claimed that Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 5.2°C, which was 4.3°C above average for J&K's winter capital. New Delhi, Feb 4: Due to poor weather in the area, six IndiGo flights from Delhi to Srinagar and Leh in Jammu & Kashmir were cancelled on Sunday. A representative for IndiGo claims that two flights to Leh and four flights to Srinagar have been cancelled. "The runways in Srinagar and Leh have been blocked due to a significant shift in the weather. Two IndiGo flights to Leh and one to Srinagar have been cancelled as a result of this, an airline representative said. He added that the passengers had the choice to reschedule the trip, go to a different sector, or receive a complete refund.With significant snowfall on Sunday, Srinagar, a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, transforms into a winter paradise.
