Seven Students Booked Under UAPA For Raising Objectionable Slogans, Celebrating India Loss In WC

Srinagar, Nov 27 :According to authorities, seven students from an agricultural university were detained here on Monday under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for allegedly cheering the Indian cricket team's defeat in the World Cup final and yelling offensive slogans. According to the officials, the youths who were arrested are enrolled in classes at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)–Kashmir. Following an investigation by police into a complaint from a non-local student, who claimed his collegemates had harassed him and yelled offensive remarks after India lost the cup and final match to Australia, the students were taken into custody. DM, SSP review security scenario in border areas of district

JAMMU: The District Level Standing Committee on Security met on Monday, and District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya gave a review of the security situation in Jammu District's border areas. The Indo-Pakistan Border areas were thoroughly reviewed and a number of important issues were discussed during the meeting. The Indian Army and paramilitary officers present at the meeting, along with SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar, gave a thorough report on the security situation and the measures taken to prevent any enemy attempts at mischief.The DM specifically asked about the state of security and the steps being taken to stop enemy forces from trying to infiltrate or violate the ceasefire. He recognised the security forces' contribution to maintaining the region's peace and tranquilly as well as protecting the border. The DM emphasised the importance of development in border areas, emphasising improved connectivity and basic amenities for border residents given the particular difficulties their demographics present. He declared that the government is dedicated to raising the standard of living of border residents by providing all necessary infrastructure and amenities.The DM gave the district officers instructions to visit the border areas on a prearranged basis on a regular basis to monitor saturation and the implementation of government programmes, as well as to gather input on the complaints and demands of the local populace. It was instructed to the officers to continue working closely with the security services as well. The government will stop at nothing to address the concerns and goals of border citizens, Sachin Kumar emphasised. In order to preserve peace, law, and order in the border regions, he also urged the populace to work with the government and the security forces.The border areas are receiving special attention from the district administration due to the various challenges that the local people face. In addition to other officers, Sub Divisional Magistrates and Executive Engineers attended the meeting. KUPWARA: According to an official statement released by the Indian Army, two people were arrested on Monday following the discovery of weapons and ammunition in the Kupwara district. According to the Indian Army, a Mobile Vehicle Interception Post (MVIP) was set up at Kupwara's Gushi Bridge as part of Operation GUSHI. On X, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army stated, "In a Joint Operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on specific intelligence, a Mobile Vehicle Interception Post (MVIP) was established today at Gushi Bridge at Kupwara where two suspected individuals were apprehended." "Four hand Grenades, one Pistol with ammunition along with other incriminating materials were recovered," it continued. Investigations are currently being conducted further. JAMMU, Nov 27: Prodigious Indian para archer Sheetal Devi won the Best Youth Athlete of the Year title at the Asian Awards 2023 in Riyadh on Saturday, November 25, adding to her growing list of firsts. The 16-year-old won the laurel and made history as the first Indian athlete to do so. Sheetal is the first female archer to compete internationally without the use of arms, according to World Para Archery. But she's not just competing. In a fantastic debut season, the teenager is taking home medals from major competitions.Sheetal shot to national prominence after winning three medals at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, after taking home the silver medal at the World Para Archery Championships earlier this year in Pilsen, Czech Republic. She was the first Indian woman to win two gold medals at the Asian Para Games in the same edition of the competition with her two gold medals. Srinagar, Nov 27: Even as a dense layer of fog enveloped the valley, authorities reported on Monday that the minimum temperature in the majority of Kashmir saw a notable improvement, offering some respite to the locals from the bitter cold. The only weather station in the valley with a minimum temperature that dropped below freezing at minus 1.2 degrees Celsius was the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, recorded a minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius, according to the officials, up from zero degrees the night before.According to reports, Kokernag town recorded a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius, while Qazigund, the town that serves as the entrance to the valley in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 2.6 degrees Celsius. According to the officials, Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir, saw a low of 1.5 degrees Celsius. In Kupwara town in north Kashmir, the minimum temperature reached a low of -1.8 degrees Celsius. Monday morning the valley was shrouded in a dense fog. The fog, however, did not significantly affect air traffic at the Srinagar airport.According to the Met Office, there will probably be shallow to moderate fog in many areas of Kashmir through Tuesday. The majority of Jammu and Kashmir is expected to continue having cloudy weather through Tuesday, with sporadic light rain or snowfall. Beginning on Wednesday, there is a chance of light to moderate rain or snow in a lot of areas, along with a chance of thunderstorms or lightning in a few locations over the course of two days. Srinagar, Nov 27 : The war against terrorism in Uttar Pradesh is still ongoing, according to Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir RR Swain, who stated on Monday that a war ends only when one side concedes defeat. Speaking to reporters outside of a gathering at this Gurdwara Chattipadshahi, DGP Swain stated that the fight against terrorism in J&K is still ongoing. "A conflict only comes to an end when one of the sides concedes defeat and realises that more deaths will not solve the issue. Thus, even though we occasionally suffer setbacks, we will not give up on the fight against terrorism, the DGP declared.He asserted that there was no chance of the police reversing course in the ongoing war on terrorism. He uttered, "Peechay hatnay ka sawaal he nahi." In response to a question concerning infiltration, he stated that it could occasionally increase and decrease. "This matter is not meant to be made public," he declared. As the DGP offered heartfelt congratulations to Guru Nanak Devji on Gurupurab, he stated that police do not reaffirm their commitment to serving the public on this auspicious day; rather, they make a new vow to do so.The lessons of Guru Nanak Devji still hold true today. NOV 27, 2023 SRINAGAR: By the end of the month, the Meteorological Department has forecast light rain or snow in sporadic to fairly widespread locations in Kashmir. Partly cloudy weather is predicted for December 1 through December 5. Some parts of Kashmir saw a minor improvement in the minimum temperatures, even with the cloud cover. Over the next 24 hours, the weather is expected to stay mostly cloudy and dry, with some areas in the Kashmir division possibly experiencing light to moderate fog through November 28. Srinagar recorded a low of 0.0°C today, slightly higher than the previous night's -1.0°C. With a low of -1.8°C, Pahalgam was still the coldest place; however, Qazigund, Kokerng, Kupwara, and Gulmarg also reported different temperatures from the night before.
