JAMMU: Mandeep Kaur, the commissioner secretary for the housing and urban development department, took a thorough tour of Jammu City today, stopping at several areas to evaluate the status of ongoing projects and JMC assets. Rahul Yadav, the Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation, as well as other senior officials were with her. She gave the officials orders to finish the unfinished business there first.She gave the Commissioner JMC instructions to research the optimal operating model and use self-sustaining outsourcing to guarantee these facilities are operating properly. Finally, the Commissioner Secretary made a visit to the JMC livestock pound at Dogra Hall and the under-construction cow pound at Bandhu-Rakh. She gave the concerned party instructions to use the cow dung compost from Dogra Hall in JMC parks and gardens using the appropriate system, expressing her appreciation for the work and upkeep done at the cattle pound. The Commissioner Secretary urged the officers to make sure that all ongoing development projects are completed within the designated schedule and quality requirements, but also as quickly as possible. During the visit, other attendees included the Joint Commissioner (H&S), Joint Commissioner (W), Executive Engineer (M), Municipal Veterinary Officer, and others. Over Dozen Structures Develop Cracks In J&K Doda

JAMMU, Feb 16: In a village in the Doda area of Jammu and Kashmir, more than a dozen residential homes and a mosque have developed cracks, causing the residents to relocate into temporary shelters, according to officials. A team of officials visited the impacted Gatsu hamlet to assess the situation, according to Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, and gave some tents to the afflicted residents. We are keeping an eye on the situation and supporting the people of Gatsu. The families would be rehabilitated to safer locations if necessary, he said.The afflicted inhabitants of Gatsu, who live 10 km from Doda town on the Doda-Kishtwar stretch of National Highway-244, blamed the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for their predicament. They stated that as the ground began to drop as a result of road widening construction, huge fissures emerged in the structures. In the upcoming review meeting, the district magistrate promised to bring up the matter of compensation for the impacted families with the NHIDCL."After the recent rains caused fractures to deepen, we abandoned our homes. Haleema Begum, 65, stated, "We have been pleading before the NHIDCL authorities and the district administration, but no one came to our rescue till date." According to Mohd Aarif (35), they are currently residing under polyethylene sheets after leaving their dangerous dwellings. He insisted on their thorough rehabilitation as soon as possible, saying, "We are living in constant fear of attacks by wild animals like leopards and bears which keep on roaming in this area." Army opens fire on Pakistani quadcopters near LoC in Poonch

POONCH:  According to reports, Pakistani quadcopters were shot down by army forces manning the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday at two separate locations in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir. But, they added, after briefly circling over Indian territory in the Balnoi-Mendhar and Gulpur sectors, the flying objects returned to the Pakistani side. They claimed that a search operation was started in both sectors to make sure the quadcopters weren't dumping any weapons or drugs. Around 630 am, according to officials, soldiers fired upon seeing two quadcopters fly into the Mendhar neighbourhood called Balnoi. However, the remotely operated vehicles quickly took flight again.According to them, at about the same time, two quadcopters that were hovering over the Gulpur sector returned after Indian troops opened fire on them. Army forces opened fire on an enemy drone earlier on February 12 after spotting it moving through the Mendhar sector's Mankote district. Drones are being used by Pakistan to dump weapons and drugs in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Police recently said that anyone with information regarding drones being flown from across the border with the intention of dropping weapons and drugs would be eligible for a cash prize of Rs three lakh. CRS inspects rail line between Khari-Sumbar, Sumbar-Sangaldan

RAMBAN: The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northern Railways, conducted an inspection of the new BG rail line on the Katra-Banihal segment on Thursday. The line runs from Khari-Sumbar and Sumbar to Sangaldan. The CRS inspected this track on the first of two days during a motor tram inspection on the USBR Project's Katra-Banihal stretch. Informed the officials, the CRS, Northern Circle, New Delhi, Dinesh Chand Deshwal arrived in Banihal this morning and carried out a statutory inspection for the launching of the new BG rail line, Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan (33.42 km). He was accompanied by senior railway personnel.The freshly built Khari-Sumbar (13.656 km) and Sumbar-Sangaldan (19.504 km) rail lines on motor trolleys were inspected, along with track tunnels, bridges, electric traction installation tracks, Khari railway stations, and other facilities, according to the team. A high-speed trial of the stretch by special train will be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety on Friday, according to officials. Since work on the Sangaldan to Katra section of the USBRL project is also nearing completion and in its final phase, this was the last inspection of the CRS for the Khari-Sumbar stretch.
