Old cave of Vaishno Devi Shrine to remain open for darshan twice a day

KATRA: The religious trust in charge of overseeing the operations and management of the shrine has announced that the hallowed old cave of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir will be accessible for darshan for approximately twelve hours each day. The old cave will be available for darshan from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the day and from 10.30 p.m. to 5 a.m. at night, according to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). It is anticipated that this addition will provide devotees greater freedom in scheduling their visits and guarantee a more seamless darshan experience. "Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has decided to keep the old cave open from 10 am to 4 pm and from 10.30 pm to 5 am, to allow devotees to have darshan easily," the organisation stated in a statement. Nestled amid the Trikuta Mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine welcomes millions of devotees from all over the nation every year. The cave, which is devoted to the goddess Vaishno Devi, is regarded as one of the most sacred and respected locations in Hinduism. The limited proportions of the original cave, thought to be a natural creation, mean that its entrance is blocked for much of the year. For an individual, navigating the cavern to reach the sanctum sanctorum requires several minutes. Two additional caves have been cut out for entry and departure in order to accommodate a greater number of people. The old cave is only exposed on certain days, usually on slower days or for special occasions like holidays and rituals. Along with the other stolen items, the accused also stole one Sumo car, which they used to flee. The offender, known as Yagipora Magam resident Himayat Hussain Mir, was arrested after certain suspects were picked up during the investigation.CCTV footage analysis revealed that the car was driven in the direction of the Pattan-Sopore axis. Cold Wave Back In Kashmir, -4.2°C Recorded In Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 14: After a day of respite afforded by a weak western disturbance on Saturday, cold wave conditions returned to Kashmir as the thermometer dropped several degrees below freezing mark, officials said on Sunday. Due to a dry and mainly snow-free winter, Srinagar had temperatures exceeding eight degrees Celsius throughout the day, which is unusual for this time of year. This has led to chilly nights and warmer than typical days in Kashmir, according to officials. For almost a week now, Jammu, the Union territory's winter capital, has experienced lower temperatures than Srinagar. According to them, the city of temples saw a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday night, which was 4.5 degrees below average.The minimum temperature in Srinagar on Saturday night was minus 4.2 degrees Celsius, which was 4.4 degrees colder than the 0.2 degree temperature on Friday. They stated that while Gulmarg in north Kashmir registered - 1.2 degrees Celsius, Qazigund recorded a low of minus 4 degrees. A minimum temperature of minus 5.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Pahalgam, which is one of the base camps for the yearly Amarnath Yatra and is located in the Anantnag region in south Kashmir. Kokernag town's minimum temperature was recorded at minus 2.2 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara recorded minus 4 degrees Celsius. Currently, Kashmir is experiencing "Chilla-i-Kalan," a 40-day severe winter season during which a cold wave saturates the area and low temperatures cause water in pipes and bodies of water to freeze. During this time, there is a greater likelihood of snowfall, and most places—especially the higher reaches—get a lot of snowfall.Due to the protracted dry season that Kashmir has been experiencing, there was a 79% decrease in rainfall in December and no precipitation in most of the valley during the first two weeks of January. The majority of Kashmir's plains have not seen any snowfall, while the upper valley has had less snowfall than normal. Up until January 21, the meteorological department has mostly predicted dry weather. The last day of "Chilla-i-Kalan" is January 31. After that, though, there will be two more cold spells: a 10-day "Chilla-i-Bachha" and a 20-day "Chilla-i-Khurd" (little cold). J&K generates only 600 MWs hydroelectricity against generation capacity of 3500 MWs during winters

JAMMU: Regarding the false information about Ratle Power Projects that has appeared in a number of newspapers and other media outlets, the following is a point-by-point rebuttal complete with statistics: Both the State and Central sectors of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir are developing hydropower projects. Eleventy million of the 3500 MW installed generation capacity now in use comes from plants owned by UT, which include the 110 MW Lower Jehlum, 110 MW Upper Sindh, and 900 MW Baglihar projects. The remaining 2300 MW comes from central sector plants, with important ones being Salal, Dul-Hasti, Uri, and Kishanganga. Because of a drop in river levels, power plants in J&K, both in the central and state sectors, can only produce a maximum of 600 MW during the winter months compared to their rated capacity of 3500 MW. But in winter, when demand peaks at 3200 MW, it's clear that hydroelectric power facilities are unable to meet J&K's electricity needs. The majority of the electricity generated by J&K's own power plants comes from the 900 MW-producing Baghliar Hydro Electric Project (BHEP).A total of 200–250 MW are produced by other locally owned power plants, including as Upper Sindh, Lower Jehlum, Chennani, etc. Through UT's own producing plants, this amounts to about 1100–1140 MW, with a winter decrease to about 200 MW. Throughout the winter, Central Generating Stations (CGS) both inside and outside of J&K provide the remaining power needed. A significant portion of the 1140 MW installed capacity in the UT sector—roughly 1030 MW, or 88% of the total capacity—is used in J&K. The remaining 150 MW is sold outside of J&K in accordance with agreements made in 2009—first through PTC and then bilaterally with Haryana. The Government of India has set Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets, making it mandatory for every State/UT to procure some quantum of hydro and…
