Anyone picking up drone-dropped items is India’s biggest enemy, will be booked: DGP

SAMBA: Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police, RR Swain, described drone-dropped objects from across the border, such as weapons, drugs, and money, as a "new challenge" and warned anyone who tries to retrieve them of being the nation's greatest adversary and facing treason and terrorism charges. Speaking with media in Samba, he declared that anyone found in possession of drone-dropped weaponry would be "degraded and disincentivised" in line with the law if they are captured. "We consider anyone coming to pick up the weapons, ammunition, explosives, narcotics or money (dropped by drones) as the biggest enemy of the country and those caught accused will be booked for treason and terrorism of the highest level," he stated.The DGP referred to a meeting held in the Ministry of Home Affairs and stated that, given the technology of the device, conventional methods such as air defence systems fail to detect the movement of drones. As a result, the highest level of authority has been informed that many people can act as eyes and ears. The unmanned aerial vehicle sneaks in like a rat. When we learn about drone movements, we want a mechanism in place at the police station and police post level with the goal of responding as soon as feasible." In addition to obtaining information to pinpoint the precise moment the drone takes off, he stated that this technology should track and intercept these drones. He claimed that despite the strict security at the border, there were attempts to undermine the calm in the UT from across it. The J&K Police chief described them as a "emerging trend" and mentioned that in the recent past, tunnels were created in numerous locations to transport weapons and militants. He noted, "Drones are a new challenge now, and to counter these challenges, planning and strategy are needed." He said there was a difficulty being faced and that people's cooperation, area dominance, intellect, and investigation should be combined to make "their work so difficult that they will understand it is of no use." He pointed out that generalisations don't tell the whole story. When questioned about the recent upsurge in terrorist activity in the Poonch and Rajouri border regions, Swain stated, "Operational strategy does not allow revealing the number of active militants." "We don't discuss the figures because they don't provide context for the issue. A significant incident can be carried out by even two people ", he continued. According to him, people are crucial in overcoming these kinds of obstacles. In order to combat militancy, he continued, active collaboration with security services was being conducted. Numerous information are being received by security forces from residents in the Rajouri-Poonch districts. Individuals have become enmeshed with extremists themselves." Vaishali accomplished the last condition on Friday by obtaining the necessary number of rating points, having previously satisfied three GM norms. Other than Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli, she is the third female player to achieve the title of grandmaster. She presently holds this title alongside more than eighty other Indian chess players, such as the renowned Vishwanathan Anand, Humpy, Dronavalli, Dibyendu Barua, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, and others.In addition, Vaishali is the sister of the 18-year-old chess prodigy Praggnanandhaa, who makes them the first-ever grandmaster siblings in the annals of the game. MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, complimented the pair on their accomplishment. "#TamilNaduPride@Udhaystalin @ChessbaseIndia @FIDE_chess," Stalin posted on Twitter using his official X account, which was once Twitter. Solar Wind Particle Experiment Payload Onboard Aditya-L1 Starts Operations: ISRO

Bengaluru, Dec 2: India's Aditya-L1 satellite's Aditya Solar wind Particle Experiment payload has started operating and is operating normally, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced on Saturday. On September 2, the Aditya-L1 spacecraft was successfully launched by ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C57) from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The first space-based observatory in India, Aditya-L1, is studying the Sun from a halo orbit around the first Sun-earth Lagrangian point (L1), situated approximately 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.The Solar Wind Ion Spectrometer (SWIS) and the SupraThermal and Energetic Particle Spectrometer (STEPS) are two state-of-the-art instruments that are part of the Aditya Solar wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX), according to a statement from ISRO. September 10, 2023 was STEPS instrument functioning. Since its activation on November 2, 2023, the SWIS instrument has performed at its best. "SWIS operates in planes perpendicular to one another, utilising two sensor units with an impressive 360° field of view each," the statement said. The device has successfully measured solar wind ions, mostly protons and alpha particles, according to ISRO.According to the agency, fluctuations in the counts of protons and alpha particles (doubly ionised helium, He2+) may be seen in a sample energy histogram that was obtained from one of the sensors over the course of two days in November 2023. "This comprehensive snapshot of solar wind behaviour was provided by the variations that were recorded with nominal integration time," stated ISRO. According to the space agency, SWIS's directional capabilities allow for accurate measurements of solar wind protons and alphas, which greatly aids in answering long-standing concerns regarding the characteristics of the solar wind, its underlying processes, and its effects on Earth.It is possible to infer information regarding the arrival of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) at the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point L1 indirectly from changes in the proton and alpha particle number ratio that SWIS has detected, according to ISRO. For space weather research, the enhanced alpha-to-proton ratio is important since it is frequently thought to be one of the most sensitive indicators of the passage of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) at the L1.
