“There existed large Hindu Temple…”: Hindu side lawyer cites ASI report on Gyanvapi complex survey

VARANASI: Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, the counsel for the Hindu side, stated that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has made a "conclusive finding" and stated that there existed a large Hindu Temple prior to construction of the existing structure, a day after the Varanasi district court ruled that the ASI survey report on the Gyanvapi mosque complex will be given to litigants on both sides. According to the ASI, a sizable Hindu temple predated the building of the current building. This is the ASI's definitive conclusion, Vishnu Shankar Jain told the local media. He noted that according to the ASI, several inscriptions on both the pre-existing and present structure were discovered during the survey. "The current survey resulted in the recording of 34 inscriptions and the taking of 32 stamped pages. In actuality, these are inscriptions that were previously present on a Hindu temple's stone that were utilised again throughout the building and restoration of the current building. They have inscriptions written in Telugu, Kannada, Grantha, and Devanagari scripts. The repurposing of older inscriptions within the structure implies that the previous structures were demolished and their components were used for the building and restoration of the current structure. These inscriptions contain three names of deities, including Janardana, Rudra, and Umeshwara," the counsel stated. Vishnu Shankar Jain provided further information, stating that the ASI has stated that the pillars and plasters utilised in the current building were examined methodically and scientifically in order to build Sahan and expand the mosque. "Plasters and pillars from earlier temples were repurposed with minimal alterations. A close examination of the plasters and pillars in the corridors reveals that they were originally a part of an earlier Hindu temple, which was dismantled to make room for them in the current building. The Vyala figures that were carved on either side of the lotus medallion were also dismantled, and floral patterns were added to the area once the corners' stone mass was removed. Two comparable plasters that are still in their original locations on the north and south walls of the western chamber attest to this observation. "In response to a court's directive, the ASI surveyed the Gyanvapi grounds to ascertain whether the mosque was built over an earlier Hindu temple structure. Last month, the ASI sent its survey results in a sealed cover to the district court. Present UNSC Does Not Reflect Today’s Reality: UNGA President

NEW DELHI, Jan 24: Dennis Francis, the president of the U.N. General Assembly, stated on January 24 that reform of the U.N. Security Council is necessary since its current makeup does not accurately reflect the geopolitical landscape of today's globe. He stated at a press conference soon after speaking with S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, that the Security Council has become increasingly incapable of making decisions in recent years to improve international peace and security. While in India for a five-day visit, Ambassador Francis emphasised the importance of UN Security Council reform. "It is imperative that the UN Security Council be reformed," he declared, adding that he discussed the matter with Mr. Jaishankar as well. India has been adamant on seeing changes made to the UN, particularly to the Security Council. The absence of significant progress in the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) on Security Council reform has infuriated New Delhi in particular. India is a serious candidate to join the UN Security Council permanently. Currently, the General Assembly of the United Nations elects 10 non-permanent members for two-year terms, while there are five permanent members of the UNSC. Russia, the United States, China, France, and the United Kingdom are the five permanent members, and they each have the power to veto any significant resolution.The president of the United Nations General Assembly praised India as well for helping the African Union become a full member of the G20. "India's leadership in the international arena is evident in its outreach to Africa, especially in facilitating the African Union's membership in the G20," stated Francis. "There is no doubt in anyone's mind about it." More importantly, he continued, "it showed India's long-standing commitment to support and facilitate development in the Global South." Francis, a member of Trinidad and Tobago's diplomatic corps, declared peace, prosperity, advancement, and sustainability to be among his top priorities as president. "Rebuilding trust and reigniting solidarity" is the subject of his 78th United Nations General Assembly presidency. The vice president of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, shared a photo of himself and his father aboard a plane on social media. "O Allah, I intend to perform Umrah, so make it easy for me and accept it from me," wrote Omar. The two NC leaders were covered in "ehraam," which are two pieces of unstitched fabric that Muslims wear during the Haj and Umrah.
