BJP delegation meets SSP Jammu, demands enhanced security at migrant Kashmiri Pandit camps

JAMMU:On Monday, a BJP delegation paid a visit to Senior Superintendent of Police (Jammu), Vinod Kumar, and made a demand for increased security at the camps that house Kashmiri Pandits who are migrants. The BJP's Kashmir displaced unit, headed by district chief Chand Ji Bhat, submitted a memorandum outlining the demand, the party said in a statement. The delegation brought up the purported instances of car vandalism in the Jagti township and asked for increased efforts to catch the perpetrators and put preventative measures in place. Along with recommending regular and thorough night patrols at all of the Kashmiri Pandit camps in Purkhoo, Muthi, Jagti, and Nagrota, it also emphasised the urgent need to increase the number of police officers at the Jagti police post."This proactive measure aims to deter criminal activities and enhance residents' sense of security," said the delegation. Chandigarh, Nov 20: In Punjab's Tarn Taran district, the BSF on Monday retrieved a drone from an agricultural field close to the India-Pakistan border, according to an official. The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended eight Pakistani unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used to smuggle heroin across the border in the last week at various locations in Punjab. The official stated that on Monday, the Punjab Police and the troops carried out a cooperative search operation on the outskirts of Mehdipur village in Tarn Taran, based on specific information. He also mentioned that a Chinese-made quadcopter was found in a field during the operation. The BSF added that during the previous week, its soldiers had found and intercepted five kilogrammes of heroin and eight Pakistani drones."The alert troops of @BSF_Punjab have recovered and intercepted eight Pakistani drones that were smuggling drugs into India over the past seven days." In addition, the BSF was able to apprehend two smugglers and seize about five kilogrammes of heroin, according to a post on X. It also stated, "Notably, all of the intercepted drones were used for cross-border smuggling and were manufactured in China." Before significant snowfall blocks potential terrorist infiltration routes, police and other security agencies are on high alert throughout Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the Line of Control, officials said. Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Nov 20: In the skill development case, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday granted bail to former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. According to Andhra Pradesh High Court lawyer Sunkara Krishnamurthy, Chandrababu Naidu was granted temporary bail until November 28. In this case, regular bail has been granted by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Siddarth Luthra, an advocate for the TDP legal team, presented arguments in support of Chandrababu Naidu. TDP leaders and supporters expressed satisfaction with the court's ruling. The TDP chieftain left Rajahmundry jail earlier this month on October 31, following his issuance of temporary bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding an alleged skill development case.Naidu was placed in judicial custody for 53 days, with a four-week interim bond issued. The arrest of the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on September 9 in relation to the multi-crore skill development scam case caused political unrest in the state, with multiple TDP leaders claiming that Naidu was detained on the basis of false accusations and that the arrest was nothing more than a political "witch-hunt." In addition to the skill development case, Naidu is accused in two other graft cases: the Inner Ring Road scam and the Fibernet scam.The FiberNet case concerns purported tender manipulation in which a favoured company was given a work order under Phase-1 of the Andhra Pradesh FiberNet Project, which involves Rs. 330 crore. The Andhra Pradesh police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has accused the project of having irregularities from the time the tender was awarded until the work was finished, costing the state exchequer a significant amount of money. NEW DELHI, Nov 20: The draught National Pharmacy Commission Bill, 2023, has been made public by the Union Health Ministry. Its goal is to establish a national commission in lieu of the Pharmacy Council of India and repeal the Pharmacy Act of 1948. On November 14, the ministry posted the draught bill online and invited public feedback. The proposed bill seeks to establish a pharmacy education system that increases access to reasonably priced, high-quality pharmacy or pharmaceutical education, guarantees the availability of sufficient, highly qualified pharmacy professionals nationwide, advances universal and equitable healthcare, and allows all citizens to utilise pharmacy professionals' services. The proposed legislation mandates strict adherence to high ethical standards in all facets of pharmacy services, facilitates the creation of an Indian pharmacy register, and evaluates pharmacy institutions on a regular and transparent basis. Additionally, it motivates pharmacy professionals to participate in research and incorporate the most recent findings into their work. The draught bill aims to establish an efficient grievance redressal system and suggests flexibility to adjust to changing needs. In order to ensure transparency, the draught states that the Pharmacy Ethics and Registration Board will keep a National Pharmacy Register with information about pharmacy professionals. NEW DELHI, Nov 20: The Election Commision of India (ECI) announced on Monday that since the elections were announced, poll workers in five states holding polls have reported seizing over ₹ 1760 crores, a 636 percent increase over the amount seized in these five states during previous elections. Mizoram, Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana are the five states that will be voting. The poll body said in a statement on Monday that "seizures exceeding ₹ 1760 crores have been reported in the five polling states since the announcement of the elections, which is more than 7 times (₹ 239.15 cr) the seizures made in previous Assembly Elections in these States in 2018."According to data released by the poll body, Telangana, which is scheduled to hold elections on November 30, had the largest cash seizure, totaling over ₹ 659. 2 crore. Rajasthan came in second with ₹ 650.7 crore, MP with ₹ 323. 7 crore, Chhattisgarh with ₹ 76. 9 crore, and Mizoram with ₹ 49. 6 crore. Recall that the Statement states that in the last six state assembly elections in Gujarat, HP, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Karnataka, seizures totaling more than ₹ 1400 crores were made—eleven times more than in the previous assembly elections in these states."A 636 percent increase in comparison to the seizure figures recorded in these five states during the 2018 Assembly Elections," the statement stated. The Enforcement Commission of India (ECI) added that among the items seized were cash, alcohol, drugs, precious metals, freebies, and other items valued at crores. "With the Election Expenditure Monitoring System (ESMS), the Commission has also incorporated technology into the monitoring process this time around. This is working as a catalyst, as it has brought numerous Central and State law enforcement agencies together for improved intelligence sharing and coordination," the statement continued.
