DGP RR. Swain sanctions merit scholarship for wards of police personnel

JAMMU: Director General of Police R. R. Swain has approved a meritorious scholarship of rupees 19.62 lakh in favour of 290 wards of serving police personnel in an effort to raise morale and foster competition among these individuals. According to a PHQ order, 31 wards of active police officers have been granted meritorious scholarships worth Rs. 3,15,000 for achieving 80% or higher on their yearly graduation and post-graduation exams for the academic year 2022–2023. A ward has been sanctioned Rupees 18000 for achieving 94.5% in the MBA, and 12 wards have been sanctioned Rupees 12,000 apiece for achieving above 80% in various post-graduation exams.Additionally, eighteen wards have been sanctioned rupees eight thousand five hundred apiece for achieving above 80% in various graduation examinations. By virtue of an additional PHQ Order, 259 wards of active police officers have been granted meritorious scholarships of rupees 16,47,000 for achieving above 80% in the yearly 12th class examination during the 2022–2023 academic year. 181 wards of serving police personnel who received 80%-90% marks in the annual examination have been sanctioned rupees 6000 each, while 78 wards who received 90% and above in the class 12th annual examination during the academic session 2022–2023 have been sanctioned rupees 7200 each.The Central Police Welfare Fund is used to approve the deserving scholarship amount. The Jammu and Kashmir Police offers merit-based scholarship programmes for wards of serving police personnel, deceased police personnel, and SPOs who excel in various classes. Students that excel in technical courses, colleges, and universities are also awarded special rewards. JAMMU: The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has disconnected 1702 defaulters in a campaign against "illegal" power connections and past-due payments, earning an astounding Rs 9 crore in revenue in just two days, according to officials today. "In the first place, connections of 1702 consumers including influential consumers (Industries, Hotels and Influential persons) were disconnected to sensitise the masses to clear their liabilities on account of electricity bills and develop habits of paying electricity bills in time," it stated. The JPDCL spokesperson went on to say that between March 2023 and October 2023, 49,028 inspections were carried out, resulting in the disconnections of 23131 customers' power and the realisation of Rs. 68.19 crore.All customers have been advised by JPDCL to pay their outstanding balances right now in order to prevent being disconnected. During the crackdown, which was a component of JPDCL's continuous efforts to stop energy theft and deal with financial irregularities, the inspection procedure was strengthened and included both day and night patrols to look for power theft. Spokesman for the JPDCL emphasised that the initiative's goal was to tighten the noose around customers who frequently connect up, violate agreed-upon loads, and bypass metres. The JPDCL underlined in an official statement that it is dedicated to helping legitimate customers and making sure they are not burdened by the misdeeds of bad people.The electricity distribution company emphasised even further how actions like energy theft must be taken seriously. These actions not only cause blackouts but also damage to transformers, which inconveniences law-abiding customers. JPDCL's two-day operation yielded significant revenue, with a total of Rs 9.03 crore collected on Tuesday alone in arrear dues. This indicates the gravity of the problem and the organization's resolve to immediately settle outstanding payments. With 1411 inspections conducted throughout the Jammu Division, the inspection covered a number of circles. SRINAGAR : In the Budgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, a gang purportedly engaged in the illicit trade of fake gold biscuits was dismantled, and three individuals were taken into custody, according to police on Wednesday. According to a police spokeswoman, the Khansahib police station was notified by credible sources on Tuesday about the involvement of a number of people in the illegal sale of fake gold biscuits. In response to a tip, he claimed, a suspect car was stopped close to the Gogjipathri crossing in the Khansahib neighbourhood of the central Kashmir district.He said that the three individuals in the car were Fayaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Malwa Kunzar, Farooq Ahmad Dar, and Shabir Ahmad Dar, both of Arizal Khansahib. Srinagar Police books NIT student for uploading ‘sensitive content’

SRINAGAR: On Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced that they had opened a complaint against a student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, on the grounds that the student had uploaded sensitive material that offended the religious feelings of a specific community. A post on the official X feed of Srinagar Police stated, "Police have taken cognizance of the incident of uploading of sensitive content against religious sentiments of a particular community by one student of NIT Srinagar." Sections 295A (acts intending to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.), and 153 (intentionally provoking someone in a way that may lead to a riot) of the Indian Penal Code were the sections under which the case was registered. NEW DELHI: According to Union Minister Anurag Thakur, the Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) to concentrate on 11 crucial interventions across several ministries on Wednesday. The project will cost a total of Rs 24,104 crore, as declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas at Khunti, Jharkhand. Durg, Nov 29: In the Durg district of Chhattisgarh, a car carrying a female IPS officer's parents and grandmother was involved in a collision with a truck, resulting in their deaths, police reported on Wednesday. PD Nitya, an IPS officer, is now assigned to the position of Superintendent of Police in the Ladakh district of Leh. The three casualties were heading home to Smriti Nagar in Bhilai city (in Durg) when the accident occurred on Tuesday night near Khedamara village, which is under the jurisdiction of Jamul police station, according to an official.
