JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Congress protested against the BJP on Friday after one of their social media posters depicted Rahul Gandhi as a "New Age Ravan." The BJP billboard on X had drawn sharp rebuke from the Congress, which on Thursday described it as "downright dangerous" and completely unacceptable. Numerous members of the Congress staged a protest march in the city under the leadership of former minister Yogesh Sawhney. They screamed anti-BJP chants and set BJP effigies on fire. Jammu, Oct 6: Mehbooba Mufti, president PDP, slammed the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday for saying that "undeserving candidates were given government jobs in J&K through illegal and backdoor means" and demanded that, if true, an investigation be launched. KUPWARA: On the second day of his trip to Kupwara, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spoke with a number of public delegations. The Lt. Governor was briefed by delegations made up of PRI members, Border village residents, traders, Pahadi, Gujjar Bakerwal, and members of minority communities, farmers, transporters, media professionals, and the Bar Association on a variety of development-related issues and other matters of public importance. The Lt Governor gave the delegations his word that their legitimate complaints will be addressed in a timely manner. The Lt. Governor noted in his interaction with the media that people-centered policies have given the district's overall growth a new lease on life and that the average citizen is now able to live in peace. He added that careful planning has increased the number of tourists visiting the area significantly. "The remote communities now have electricity, and Jal Jeevan Mission projects are moving along faster. By the end of this year, on December 31, we expect to have covered every village, panchayat, and household in the district under "Nal Se Jal." The Lt Governor declared that 70 percent of the work had already been finished. The Lt Governor stated that the railway ministry had authorised a survey of the rail line for the Kupwara district in response to a question regarding the rail connectivity to Kupwara. Over 9,000 Landless People Given Land In J&K So Far: LG

KUPWARA, Oct 06 : Over 9,000 landless individuals have already received land in the area, according to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and only those who qualify will receive 5 Marla land from the government. RBI maintains status quo in policy rate, flags inflation concern

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) monetary policy committee unanimously chose to retain the policy repo rate at 6.5 percent at its October review meeting, making this the fourth straight time that it has done so. Shaktikanta Das, governor of the RBI, stated that the central bank is worried and has recognised rising inflation as a significant risk to macroeconomic stability and sustainable growth while deliberating the policy statement on Friday morning. Das further stated that the monetary policy committee is dedicated to keeping India's headline inflation around 4%.The governor also mentioned that 5 of the MPC's 6 members favour continuing to focus on the "withdrawal of accommodation" in monetary policy in order to ensure that inflation gradually converges to the objective while fostering growth. On Wednesday, the RBI's three-day bi-monthly monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting got underway. Participants in the financial markets will be eagerly watching the outcome and the central bank's policy stance for new clues. In a financial year, the RBI normally holds six bimonthly meetings when it discusses the money supply, inflation outlook, interest rates, and different macroeconomic factors.The repo rate was kept at 6.5 percent by the RBI in each of its last three meetings in April, June, and August. The policy's key elements include zero tolerance for violence and a strong emphasis on development initiatives so that the poor and vulnerable in the impacted areas can benefit from development.By deploying CAPF Battalions, providing helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles, and authorising India Reserve Battalions (IRBs) and Special India Reserve Battalions (SIRBs), the Ministry of Home Affairs is assisting the State Governments in strengthening their security apparatus in accordance with the policy. For the modernization and training of State Police, funds are also provided through the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Scheme, Special Infrastructure Scheme (SIS), and Modernization of Police Force (MPF) programmes. The Indian government has approved 17,600 km of new roads as part of its numerous development projects for the states impacted by left-wing extremism. Six thieves nabbed; stolen articles including service weapon of Police officer recovered

LEH:By detaining six suspects and recovering various stolen articles, including a police officer's service weapon, from the suspects, District Police Leh has solved a theft case involving a service weapon and four additional house theft crimes. Speaking at a press conference held in this location today, SSP Leh PD Nitya stated that an investigation was launched after ASI Asgar Ali complained on September 25, 2023, that unidentified thieves had broken into his home and fled with several items, including a government-issued pistol and 35 bullets (ammunition) that he had locked in a steel locker.According to her, Leh Police and J&K Police worked together to successfully seize the suspects from a car at Qazigund on September 26, 2023, at around 12:05 p.m., based on both technical and human intelligence. "During the search of the vehicle, a service pistol and 35 rounds were discovered along with 34 other items that were likely stolen, and two people, Jiyarul Sheikh son of Lalchand Sheikh Brahmanigram of Kolkata and Mohd Nizam Mullah son of Himayat Mullah of JJ Colony (Delhi), who were travelling in the vehicle, were detained in this regard. "Further investigation revealed the involvement of two additional people. As a result, Leh Police detained two additional suspects on September 29, 2023: Mohd Sahil, the son of Mohd Himmat of Kolkata, and Pervaiz Shiekh, the son of Forooq Sheikh of Kolkata. As a result of the four accused admitting during questioning to having stolen the service weapon from ASI Asgar Ali's residence, Section 7/25 of the Arms Act was introduced. Additionally, they admitted to committing multiple thefts at different locations, such as Nubra, Chimday, Solar Colony, etc., and recoveries were made as a result of the admissions, the officer said. She claimed that after the accused came forward, Ram Kali, the wife of Partap, who lived in New Delhi (now Khalsar Nubra), had some stolen property that had been sold to Asiya Rasool Sheikh (Alias Kani), the daughter of Ghulam Rasool Shiekh, a resident of Hari Singh Street (Srinagar). As a result, she had items recovered from her possession, and Police Station Nubra arrested her on April 10, 2023. In five incidents, FIR Numbers 45/2023 of the Police Station Leh, 165/2023 of the Police Station Leh, 166/2023 of the Police Station Leh, 167/2023 of the Police Station Leh, and FIR Number 25/2023 of the Police Station Nubra, recoveries have been made to date.The majority of the stolen stuff that has been found so far is jewellery made of gold, silver, and other valuable stones. Three suspected criminally related cars, including two Maruti Vans and a TATA-207 pickup truck, have been impounded, the SSP announced, adding that further inquiries into their possible participation in other theft cases are ongoing.
