CJ inaugurates ‘Fast Track Court (POCSO Cases) at District Court Complex, Jammu

JAMMU: Today, at the District Court Complex in Jammu, the newly built "Fast Track Court (POCSO Cases) Jammu" was officially opened by Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. This court is equipped with all the latest technology and amenities that are necessary for a POCSO court. Along with all of the judicial officers from the District Headquarter and the High Court registry in Jammu, there were also several other attendees, including Justice Tashi Rabstan, Administrative Judge for the District of Jammu, Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul, Justice Puneet Gupta, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu, Sanjay Parihar, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice, M K Sharma, and Y P Bourney, Director Judicial Academy.Along with the court employees of the District Court of Jammu, the event was also graced by Advocate General D.C. Raina, President of the BAR Association, Secretary Vikram Sharma, and office bearers of the BAR Association Jammu. JAMMU: The BJP Mahila Morcha in this area hailed the passing of a bill that gave Jammu and Kashmir access to the women's reservation law, describing it as a "significant step" towards the empowerment of women in the area. Two bills that expanded the women's reservation law's provisions to the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry were approved by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Members gave out candy and danced to the rhythms of drums to show their happiness. The J&K BJP Mahila Morcha President, Sanjita Dogra, praised the bill's extension as a "significant step" towards "Nari Shakti" and emphasised its function as "Rashtra Shakti," or the strength of the country.The women's reservation law, officially known as the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act, 2023, aims to grant women 33% of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. "Today will go down in India's 75-year history as the day when half of the country's population achieved sufficient representation in the upper house of parliament," Dogra said, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing and enacting the legislation through both chambers. According to her, women's power is the nation's power, and the Amrit Kaal will allow both the country and the women to achieve greater things until 2047. Dogra congratulated women all around the country and emphasised the outstanding accomplishments of "Nari Shakti" in a variety of fields. HC Collegiums Yet To Send Recommendations For 201 Judges’ Vacancies: Govt

New Delhi, Dec 15: Parliament was informed on Friday that eighty-one out of the 123 proposals submitted by high court collegiums for judge appointments are being processed by the government at different stages. In a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that the Supreme Court Collegium is currently reviewing the remaining 42 proposals. He added that recommendations from the high court collegiums regarding the remaining 201 vacancies have not yet been received."As of December 12, 123 proposals were being processed in different ways. Of these 123 proposals, 81 are being processed by the government at different stages. The SC Collegium is now debating 42 proposals, according to Meghwal. On December 1, there were 324 vacancies out of the 1,114 sanctioned judges for the 25 high courts, according to the law ministry's website. The chief justice of a high court starts the process of proposing candidates to fill judge vacancies, in accordance with the established procedure. The opinions of the federal government are sent to the Supreme Court Collegium along with all of the names that the high court collegiums have recommended.Certain names are recommended by the apex court collegium, and the remaining names are returned to the hugh court collegiums. The president then appoints judges as the government implements the recommendations. The Supreme Court Collegium receives some recommendations back for further consideration. Only individuals who have been recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium are appointed by the government. Bhajan Lal Sharma Takes Over As Rajasthan CM On His Birthday, BJP Top Brass Attend Oath Ceremony

Jaipur, Dec 15: Twelve days after the BJP defeated the Congress in the assembly elections, Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA, took the oath of office as chief minister of Rajasthan on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the top BJP officials were present at the ceremony. On his 57th birthday, Sharma, a BJP state general secretary, assumed leadership of the state. Governor Kalraj Mishra also swore in Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa as his deputy chief ministers. The oath was taken in Hindi by all three.Ashok Gehlot, the departing chief minister, was present at the event in front of this location's historic Albert Hall. It was witnessed by a sizable contingent of BJP MLAs and employees from all over the state. On December 12, Sharma, a leader backed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was named leader of the BJP legislature party. PM Modi, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and a number of other senior party leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony.Attendees included the recently appointed chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav; the chief ministers of Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa; and the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya. Mahants and seers from various locations also attended the ceremony. "Jai Shri Ram" and "Modi-Modi" were yelled by BJP supporters as Sharma, Diya Kumari, and Bairwa took the oath. One of the leaders who arrived early for the programme was Ashok Gehlot, who was seated next to “rival” Gajendra Singh Shekhwat and was observed conversing with him. Gehlot has been smearing Union minister Shekhawat with accusations of his involvement in the "scam" involving the Sanjivani Credit Co-operative Society on a regular basis. In response, Shekhawat has brought a defamation lawsuit in Delhi against Gehlot. There was a brief disturbance at the Ramniwas Garden entry point just before the oath ceremony, where people were being forced into the venue. Before the police could stop them, a number of people leaped over the barricades.After winning the assembly elections, the BJP chose Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA, to be Rajasthan's new chief minister on December 12, putting an end to days of speculation. After BJP MLAs convened here and chose the 56-year-old Sanganer legislator to lead their legislature party, the unexpected selection was made public. Prior to the legislature party meeting, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Vasundhara Raje were also considered the front-runners for the position of chief minister. With a margin of 48,081 votes, Sharma, the party's Brahmin face, emerged victorious in the Bharatpur district of Jaipur's Sanganer constituency. He graduated with a master's in political science.Following the recent assembly elections, the BJP promoted a number of lesser-known MLAs to the position of chief minister, and he is the third in line. The other two are Mohan Yadav, who was recently sworn in as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, and Vishnu Deo Sai, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh. In the November 25 assembly elections, the Congress received 69 seats in Rajasthan, while the BJP secured 115 seats. In the state, 199 out of 200 seats had polling.
