Poonch Ambush | Search Ops To Track Down Terrorists Enter Sixth Day

Poonch/Jammu, Dec 26: Security forces continued to conduct cordon and search operations for the sixth day in a row on Tuesday, battling challenging terrain and dense forests in an effort to find the terrorists responsible for the ambush that killed four soldiers in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, last week, according to officials. According to official sources, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to visit ground zero on Wednesday with senior Army and civilian officials keeping an eye on the situation in Poonch in light of the terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of three civilians there. They claimed that during the previous few days, more than thirty suspects had been questioned, and that many of them had been released.According to a senior official, "the cordon and search operation is ongoing to locate the terrorists responsible for the ambush on Army vehicles." According to the official, aerial mechanisms, surveillance equipment, and sniffer dogs are all part of the operation. According to him, additional forces have been sent in to block seven infiltration routes during area domination operations. According to official sources, operations are being done carefully because the area has deep gorges, dense forests, and caverns.For the fourth day in a row, mobile internet services in Rajouri and Poonch will be suspended. According to them, the defence minister is scheduled to visit the region on Wednesday and meet with high-ranking commanders to discuss the actions being taken to address the situation. His visit comes after that of Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Manoj Pande, who visited Ground Zero in Poonch on Monday to assess the anti-terrorist operations in Surankote and the Thanamandi forest belt in the nearby Rajouri district.In the face of all obstacles, General Pande urged security personnel to maintain their resolve and fortitude. Following the terrorist ambush of two Army vehicles on Thursday at Dhatyar Morh between Dhera Ki Gali and Buffliaz in Poonch, three civilians who had been taken in by the Army for questioning were discovered dead on Friday. The Jammu and Kashmir government said on Saturday that the medical legal procedures had been completed and that legal action had been taken in relation to the incident. It also announced that the families of the deceased civilians would receive compensation and jobs. The Army has declared its commitment to providing complete support and cooperation for the investigation's conduct, and it has ordered a comprehensive internal investigation into the civilian deaths.

Farooq Bats For India-Pak Dialogue Claims J&K Could Become ‘Gaza’ Without Dialogue

Srinagar, Dec 26: Farooq Abdullah, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, issued a warning on Tuesday, saying that in the "absence" of political dialogue, the Union Territory would suffer the same fate as Gaza, which is at war with Israel. Additionally, he exhorted the leaders of Pakistan and India to engage in dialogue in order to resolve their bilateral problems. The President of the National Conference quoted the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying, "We can change our friends, but we cannot change our neighbours." Both will advance if we continue to be cordial with our neighbours. The leader of the NC stated that PM Modi also stated that "dialogue should be the means of resolving the issue" and "war is not an option at this time."Farooq questioned Pakistan and India, two nations with nuclear weapons, asking, "Where is the dialogue?" "Where's the conversation at? With Nawaz Sharif poised to take over as Pakistan's prime minister, there is talk that the country is "ready to talk" with India. But why are they not prepared to speak? "Kashmir will suffer the same fate as Gaza and Palestine, which are being bombed by Israel, if we do not find a solution through dialogue," he threatened. Just a few months before the Kargil War broke out, in 1999, former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee paid a visit to Pakistan. During an unexpected visit to Pakistan in 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Nawaz. The reason for the strained relations is Pakistan's persistent attempts to send terrorists into India. Indians have been in constant pain and indignation since the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. India-Pakistan relations took a severe hit in 2019 following the repeal of Article 370. The most recent remarks made by Farooq Abdullah were made a few days following the murder of four soldiers in a terror attack on an Army Convoy in the Poonch area. Sikh Gurus Taught Indians To Live For Their Land’s Glory: PM

NEW DELHI, Dec 26: Speaking on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Sikh gurus had inspired Indians to improve and develop their nation by teaching them to live for the beauty of their homeland. Speaking during an event called "Veer Bal Diwas" to honour the martyrdom of two of Guru Gobind Singh's sons, Modi stated that programmes in the US, Australia, and New Zealand are among the nations where their sacrifices are being honoured in addition to being remembered in India. According to Modi, his administration has a clear plan in place to help all young people in India realise their limitless potential, regardless of the area or culture in which they were raised. He cited the growth in the Indian economy as evidence that the government has a clear policy and good intentions. The prime minister urged youth to prioritise their health, stating that fit individuals would be "super hits" in both their professional and personal lives. He urged them to abstain from drug use, follow a healthy diet, and choose digital detoxification. Modi urged social groups and religious authorities to start an anti-drug campaign. In his homage to the two "Sahibzadas," the prime minister stated that "Veer Bal Diwas" represents the determination to do whatever it takes to preserve Indianness. PM Modi attends programme marking ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi furthered his concept of "Sabka Saath" on Tuesday by attending a Veer Baal Diwas programme at the cutting-edge Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, one day after receiving a delegation of Christians at his home in the capital on Christmas Day. Prime Minister Modi will lead a youth march later in the day to commemorate "Veer Baal Diwas." Additionally, the government would arrange citizen-involved programmes across the nation to teach and enlighten the populace—especially young children—about the heroic bravery of the two young Khalsas known as the Sahibzades.There will be a digital exhibit about the life and sacrifice of the Sahibzades on display in childcare centres and schools around the nation. 'Veer Baal Diwas' will also be the subject of a nationwide film screening. The MYBharat and MyGov portals will host a number of online competitions, including interactive quiz shows. Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that December 26 would be observed annually as 'Veer Bal Diwas' to commemorate the martyrdom of his sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji on January 9, 2022, the day of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Prakash Purab. On this day, too, the great revolutionary Udham Singh was born. In March 1940, he killed General O'Dwyer, who had ordered his troops to open fire on peaceful protestors, in retaliation for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar on Baisakhi in 1919. Later, the British executed Shaheed Udham Singh by hanging in London. Udham Singh, who was born on December 26, 899, in Sunam, Punjab, was raised as Sher Singh. Udham Singh was forever affected by the massacre that occurred on April 13, 1919, at Jallianwala Bagh. General Dwyer opened fire on the crowd celebrating Baisakhi at Jallianwala Bagh in Armitsar. He blocked off the main entrance and gave the order for his troops to fire on the gathering. On March 13, 1940, the British officer was due to speak at Caxton Hall in London. Uddham Singh went into the hallway, concealed a handgun inside a book, and shot O'Dwyer. On April 1, 1940, he was formally charged with the murder. In detention, he identified as "Ram Mohammad Singh Azad." In London, on July 31, 1940, he was hanged. Kashmir Continues To See Dip In Night Temp, Dense Fog In Morning

Srinagar, Dec 26: Tuesday's low temperatures dropped throughout the night in the majority of Kashmir, officials reported here, despite heavy fog causing disruptions to the Valley's early morning activities for the second day in a row. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, saw a low of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius on Monday night, which was a little less than the minus 2.3 degrees Celsius the night before, according to reports. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam, in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir, which is one of the base camps for the yearly Amarnath Yatra, was recorded at minus 4.7 degrees Celsius, according to reports. This is a decrease from the previous night's minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, and it is the coldest place in the Kashmir Valley.A low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Gulmarg, a well-known ski resort in Baramulla, according to officials. The temperature dropped to minus 3.0 degrees Celsius at Qazigund, minus 2.0 degrees Celsius in Kokernag town, and minus 3.5 degrees Celsius at Kupwara. According to the Met Department, the weather is probably going to stay mostly dry through the end of the month. For the second day in a row, a thick fog blanketed Srinagar city, making it difficult to go about daily business, according to officials. Due to the decreased visibility, there was comparatively less traffic on the roads in the morning, with cars appearing to be travelling at slower speeds.Because of the fog, the visibility in Srinagar at 9:25 a.m. was only 91 metres. Because of the poor visibility, drivers should exercise caution when driving, according to a local meteorological office official. The 40-day worst winter season, known as "Chilla-i-Kalan," is presently engulfing Kashmir. It is characterised by a cold wave, significant temperature drops, and the freezing of water bodies, such as Dal Lake, and water supply lines in various Valley locations. During this time, there is a greater likelihood of snowfall, and most places—especially the higher reaches—get a lot of snowfall. The last day of "Chilla-i-Kalan" is January 31.But after that, there will be two more cold spells: a 10-day "Chilla-i-Bachha" and a 20-day "Chilla-i-Khurd" (small cold).

Plane Grounded In France Over Human Trafficking Lands In Mumbai

MUMBAI, Dec 26: Early on December 26, a charter plane carrying 276 people—mostly Indians—landed in Mumbai. The aircraft had been grounded in France for four days due to suspicions of human trafficking, according to an official. According to the official, the aircraft, an Airbus A340, touched down in Mumbai just after 4 a.m. At 2:30 p.m. local time, it had taken off from the Vatry airport, which is close to Paris. Authorities in France claim that when the aircraft departed for Mumbai, it carried 276 passengers because 25 people—two of whom were minors—had declared their intention to seek for asylum while they were still in France. According to a French news channel, two more people were detained, produced before a judge, released, and given the status of assisted witnesses.There were 303 Indian passengers on board the aircraft when it landed at Vatry airport, including 11 unaccompanied minors, according to a local official. The stranded passengers were given access to meals and hot beverages in the Vatry airport hall, as well as makeshift beds and restrooms and showers, according to the official. On December 21, while making a technical stopover en route from Dubai, the flight, operated by Romanian charter company Legend Airlines and headed for Nicaragua, had landed at Vatry when French police intervened.The conditions and intent of the trip were the subject of a judicial investigation by French authorities, who assigned an organised crime unit to look into possible human trafficking. A growing number of people leaving the US in search of asylum now go to Nicaragua. Data released by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) indicates that in the fiscal year 2023, up to 96,917 Indians attempted to enter the country illegally, a 51.61% increase from the year before. Based on CBP data, at least 41,770 of those Indians attempted to cross the border into the United States through land in Mexico. Dunki flights are now commonly referred to as flights to Nicaragua or other third countries where obtaining travel documents is simple.
