Chandigarh, Feb 12: Three Union ministers are scheduled to meet on Monday with a group of leaders of farmers who are organising a march on Delhi. Convoys of tractor-trolleys have already left Punjab in order to participate in the march in the meantime. In an attempt to thwart the farmers' planned "Delhi Chalo" march on February 13, Haryana officials have reinforced the state's border with Punjab at many locations in Ambala, Jind, Fatehabad, and Kurukshetra with concrete blocks, iron nails, and barbed wire. In addition, the Haryana government has enforced restrictions in up to fifteen districts pursuant to Section 144 of the CrPC, which forbids any type of demonstration or march including a tractor-trolley and forbids gatherings of five or more individuals in such districts.More than 200 agricultural unions are scheduled to travel to Delhi on February 13 to force the Centre to adopt a number of requests, including the enactment of a law guaranteeing a minimum support price (MSP) for crops. This announcement has been made by the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political). Monday is the scheduled arrival date of Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Arjun Munda, and Nityanand Rai in Chandigarh for a second round of talks with the leader of the farmer community to discuss their demands. UP leg of Rahul Yatra cut short due to state board exams

LUCKNOW: In light of the state board exams for Classes 10 and 12, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has chosen to shorten the length of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, the party announced on Monday. "As a sensitive role model, Rahul Gandhi ji has prioritised the public interest on numerous occasions. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will stay in Uttar Pradesh from February 16 to February 21 in consideration of the UP Board exams beginning on February 22 "A statement from state Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi was released here. Gandhi would speak at a public gathering in Gauriganj, the Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi, on February 19. The yatra will arrive at Rae Bareli the following day, from whence it will head towards Lucknow, with marchers, including Gandhi, perhaps stopping for the night there, he added.According to the spokesperson, on February 21, the yatra would arrive in Unnao from Lucknow. It will pass through Shuklaganj and Unnao city to reach Kanpur. It would then travel through Kanpur and Hamirpur to reach Jhansi, where it will arrive the same day in Madhya Pradesh. NEW DELHI: Eight former members of the Indian Navy who had been held in the Gulf nation on suspicion of espionage have been freed, marking a significant diplomatic win for India. In a statement issued early on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) hailed the development and stated that seven of the eight former members of the Indian Navy who were employed by the private company Al Dahra Global Company had returned to India from Qatar. "The release of eight Indian citizens who were arrested in Qatar while employed for Dahra Global Company is welcomed by the Indian government. Of the eight, seven have gone back to India. The MEA stated in a statement, "We are grateful for the Emir of the State of Qatar's decision to facilitate these citizens' release and return home. Eight Indian Navy personnel who were detained in the Al Dahra Global case had their death sentences overturned by a Qatari court in December of last year. The death penalty was lowered to prison time. The change occurred after the Indian government's appeal against the Navy veterans' death sentences was granted by Qatar's Court of First Instance. Captain Navtej Singh Gill, Captain Birendra Kumar Verma, Captain Saurabh Vasisht, Commander Amit Nagpal, Commander Purnendu Tiwari, Commander Sugunakar Pakala, Commander Sanjeev Gupta, and Sailor Ragesh are the eight members of the Indian Navy that were taken into custody in Qatar.The veterans of the Indian Navy came back to Delhi and expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking up the cause. JAMMU: The second edition of the SARAS Aajeevika Mela, a colourful 11-day event that highlights the tenacity and inventiveness of rural women entrepreneurs, was officially opened today by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. The show, which echoed the idea of "vocal for local," was organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) under the Department of Rural Development & Panchayti Raj. It welcomed a wide range of artistic, creative, cultural, and culinary creations. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Indu Kanwal Chib, Mission Director of the J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission, Mridhu Slathia, Additional Mission Director of JKRLM Jammu, Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, and other concerned parties accompanied him.During the opening ceremony, the Chief Secretary underlined the importance of the exhibition as a venue for rural women to showcase and sell their goods from all across the nation, including Jammu and Kashmir.
