Parts Of Auger Machine Removed From Rubble | Silkyara Tunnel Collapse

Uttarkashi, Nov 27: Early on Monday, the auger machine's remaining components that had become embedded in the debris at Silkyara Tunnel—the site of 41 labourers' 15-day ordeal—were extracted. At this point, manual drilling will begin at the tunnel to create a way out for the stranded workers. To assess the rescue effort, Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi P K Mishra and Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand S S Sandhu will visit Silkyara on Monday. The 25-ton auger drill, which resembles a corkscrew and has a rotating blade at the front end, became stuck Friday night while drilling through the debris, forcing officials to give up on the machine. On Sunday night, portions of the auger were allowed to be removed from an area measuring 8.15 metres. To allow for manual drilling and pipe pushing, which is the last stage with about 12 metres remaining, the machine's shaft and fins had to be fully removed from the debris. MS Dhoni set to give fans ‘A gift from Thala’, to feature in IPL 2024

NEW DELHI: Cricket fans have good news: MS Dhoni, the legendary Indian player and captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), will participate in the Indian Premier League in 2024. While teams revealed their lists of players who were retained and released ahead of the next month's mini-auction, the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), revealed their lineup. Notably, CSK's list contained the'retained' section, which included the esteemed batsman and wicketkeeper, MS Dhoni. The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), also revealed their list, and in the'retained' section was the legendary wicketkeeper-batter. CSK tweeted from their X (previously Twitter) handle, "2024 - A Gift from Thala! ", confirming that MS will appear in the upcoming season. "Initiate the whistles!"Fans were curious about Dhoni's IPL 2024 status because he missed the previous season due to a knee injury. Additionally, he had a successful knee surgery performed right after the season earlier this year. It was also speculated that Dhoni's final IPL season would be the previous one. However, MS had stated in the post-game speech after his team's fifth championship victory earlier this year, "If you circumstantialy if you see it is the best time to announce the retirement." Saying "thank you" and "retire" is the easy part for me. However, putting in a full nine months of work and trying to play in another IPL season is a difficult task.The body must remain sturdy. That would be a gift for them to play one more season, though, given the amount of love I have received from CSK fans. I have to take care of them because of the way they have expressed their love and emotion." In 12 innings during the 2023 IPL, MS Dhoni scored 104 runs. With a strike rate of more than 182, he scored these runs at an average of 26. This season, his best score was 32*. His trademark big sixes were the source of many of his runs. Dhoni has amassed 5,082 runs at an average of 38.79 and a strike rate of over 135 in 250 IPL games. He has also amassed 24 half-centuries and a career-best score of 84*.His run total ranks him seventh in IPL history. Notably, the champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have released a number of players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2019. These players include South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorious, New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson, and England all-rounder Ben Stokes. Top players like Devon Conway of New Zealand, Moeen Ali of England, skipper MS Dhoni, young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka, and others have remained with CSK. They will have a purse of Rs 32.1 crores going into the IPL auction.Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, Bhagath Varma, Sisanda Magala, Akash Singh, Kyle Jamieson, Ambati Rayudu (retired), and Subhranshu Senapati are among the players who were released. Ajinkya Rahane, Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary, Mitchell Santner, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Simarjeet Singh, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, Prashant Solanki, Shaik Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, and Ajay Mandal are among the players who have been retained in the squad. AC assents purchase of additional 500 MW of power to meet the winter demand

JAMMU: The Administrative Council (AC), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, met here and approved the purchase of 500 MW of firm power from the Ministry of Power (MOP) in order to meet the UT's Base Load power requirement. Attending the meeting were Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, the Lieutenant Governor's principal secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary, and advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar. The AC approves the allocation of an extra 500 MW of firm power from MOP in B(v) mode (purchasing handled by PFC) in order to meet the base load power requirement, which is essentially necessary to meet the demand during the winter.Because of the large amount of hydropower in the UT, the availability decreases in the winter. AC approved the signing of a new Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between J&K Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) and NTPC regarding Singrauli-III, which is operated by NTPC, in order to close the gap between demand and availability of power during the winter months. This will lessen J&K's energy demand, which is rising at a 10% CAGR. As a thermal power station that is required to run, Singrauli-II provides power to J&K during the winter months when the hydro generators of ISGS generate only 150–300 MW, or 70–90% of the summertime generation. Therefore, in order to help the UT get over its power shortage during the hard winter, it will sign a new Power Purchase Agreement of JKPCL with NTPC regarding Singrauli-III. This will increase its availability. High-altitude remote village in Kishtwar gets mobile tower

KISHTWAR: In the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, another isolated village at a high altitude has gained telecom connectivity, an official said on Sunday. This week, the Warwan Inshan area will get its first mobile network tower, making it the second remote area in the district to have telecom connectivity after the Sumcham Buddhist village, according to the official. According to him, the new tower is especially important because it guarantees constant connectivity with other areas during the severe winter months. The official stated that because of the severe road connectivity problems caused by the heavy snowfall in the area, the tower's construction is an essential support system. On November 24, telecom connectivity was established in the Dangail area of Sumcham, which is near the famous Paddar Sapphire Mine and the Kargil region of Ladakh. Jammu disappointed with BJP, LG administration: Bukhari

JAMMU: Altaf Bukhari, the president of the Apni Party, stated on Sunday that the people of Jammu are "deeply" disappointed in the BJP and the administration led by the Lieutenant Governor following the repeal of Article 370. Due to an increase in terrorist activity, the former minister also voiced concerns about the changing security situation in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Speaking at a one-day party convention at Ratnu Chak here, Bukhari stated, "Jammu is deeply disappointed with the present dispensation and the BJP in particular as they have failed to deliver what was promised after the abrogation of Article 370."He said that the BJP had assured the people that Article 370's abrogation would open the door for significant investment in wider industrial growth and the creation of jobs, calling it a "stumbling block" in the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He declared, "Nothing like this has happened till date," referring to the purported underdevelopment and dissatisfaction of the populace, particularly because outsiders have "grabbed" Jammu's resources and trades. He claimed that the local populace feels taken advantage of because the foreign contractor and alcohol mafia actively collaborates with government officials.He made reference to the anti-encroachment drives, the alleged increase in the number of liquor stores, and the exploitation of natural resources. "These officials have also been imported to Jammu and Kashmir even though they do not know the ground reality, and these officers have no connect with the population and have become infamous for their actions that are completely anti-people," he said. He claimed that Jammu and Kashmir had never before seen a situation where the native population was entirely ignored and outsiders were actively encouraged in both the public and private sectors. There is no responsibility for public servants. This is taking place as a result of J&K not having an elected government and not having assembly elections announced," he stated. The leader of the Apni party restated the party's demands for the prompt restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood as well as the holding of assembly elections to give the populace a say in who leads their government. He was grateful to the locals who lived near the International Border and the Line of Control because they had "bravely" faced the enemies and assisted the defence forces in defending the internal security of the country. During the convention, Bukhari paid moving tributes to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks out of respect.
