CAIT advises traders to switch from Paytm to other payment apps in light of RBI action

NEW DELHI: Following RBI restrictions on Paytm wallet and bank operations, merchants' association CAIT on Sunday cautioned traders to move from Paytm to other payment options for business-related transactions. Because of the Reserve Bank of India's recent restrictions, CAIT advises customers to take preventative action to safeguard their money and guarantee smooth financial transactions. The RBI's restrictions on Paytm might cause financial upheaval for a large number of small traders, vendors, hawkers, and women because they use the app to make payments, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).The Reserve Bank of India has been clamping down on internet poster boy Vijay Shekhar Sharma's enterprises due to worries about money laundering and dubious transactions involving hundreds of crores of rupees between the well-known wallet Paytm and its less well-known banking arm, according to insiders. Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) has been directed by the central bank to cease the majority of its operations, which includes accepting new deposits, executing credit transactions, and topping up any client accounts, prepaid devices, wallets, and cards used to pay for tolls on the road after February 29. This implies that until February 29th, clients can access their existing deposits and use funds from their wallets to pay for services. Additionally, if the RBI does not budge, Paytm wallet top-ups would end and transactions made through it will be unable to complete. Concerns over the security and continuity of the financial services offered by the platform have been raised by the new limits placed on Paytm by the RBI, according to CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal. He highlighted the importance of acting quickly and making well-informed judgements in order to minimise any potential negative effects on their financial operations.'   [caption id="attachment_10303" align="alignnone" width="300"] CAIT advises traders to switch from Paytm to other payment apps in light of RBI action[/caption]

3 Nationals Of Myanmar Charge-Sheeted By NIA In Human Trafficking Case

New Delhi, Feb 4: According to an official on Sunday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against three Burmese nationals in connection with the unlawful infiltration and trafficking of foreign persons into India over the border between Bangladesh and India, mostly of Rohingya origin. A federal agency spokeswoman identified the accused as Rabi Islam, also known as "Rabiul Islam," Shafi Alam, also known as "Sofi Alom," alias "Sayedul Islam," and Mohammad Usman. All three are long-term residents of Maungdaw district in Myanmar. The NIA said that they had entered India unlawfully, working with touts and traffickers without proper documentation, and that they had also assisted in the unauthorised and illegal crossing of many other foreign nationals.According to the official, they were part of a well-organized network of touts and traffickers engaging in a variety of illicit operations, including enticing weak Rohingya women who had sought safety in Bangladesh into India under the false pretence of marrying Rohingya men. According to the NIA, these women were subsequently bought and sold for forced marriages in a number of Indian states, including Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Haryana. The inquiry conducted by the NIA revealed instances and proof of document forgeries, concluding that Rabi Islam and Mohammad Usman had got Aadhaar cards through illegal means.The spokesperson claimed that in order to further hide their genuine identities, the pair had also opened bank accounts and obtained more SIM cards using these cards. The official stated that the NIA, which began investigating the case on November 7 of last year, has made a substantial progress in locating and destroying a large-scale global human trafficking network with the release of this charge sheet.   [caption id="attachment_10283" align="alignnone" width="300"] 3 Nationals Of Myanmar Charge-Sheeted By NIA In Human Trafficking Case[/caption]
