JKDMA Issues Avalanche Warning In 2 Districts Of Kashmir In Next 24 Hrs

SRINAGAR, Jan 29: For the next 24 hours, authorities in the upper regions of two districts in the Kashmir Valley have issued an avalanche warning classified as "low danger." A "low danger" category avalanche is predicted to happen in the next 24 hours at elevations of 2600 and 2800 metres above sea level in the upper portions of Kupwara and Ganderbal districts, according to a report released on Monday by the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA). It has been recommended to the residents of these locations to exercise caution and stay away from avalanche-prone areas until further orders. On Monday, there was mild to moderate snowfall in the upper regions of the Kashmir valley, including the districts of Kupwara and Ganderbal. ECI announces elections for 56 RS seats in 15 states, polls on Feb27

NEW DELHI: Elections for 56 Rajya Sabha seats across 15 States were announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday. The elections are scheduled for February 27. The details were communicated by the ECI through a press release titled "Biennial Elections to the Council of States to fill the seats of members retiring in April 2024." The official notice adds that the 56 members of the Council of adds, who were chosen from 15 states, would retire in April 2024, marking the end of their terms in office. According to the press release, on April 2, 2024, the state of Uttar Pradesh will retire its greatest number of members—ten.Six members of both Maharashtra and Bihar will retire on April 2, 2024. On the same day, five members of West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh would retire. Four members of the legislatures from Gujarat and Karnataka will retire on April 2, 2024. As to the press release, three members of each of the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Rajasthan are retiring. On April 2, 2024, lawmakers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will retire; on April 3, 2024, members from Odisha and Rajasthan will do the same. One representative from each of the states of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will retire on April 2, 2024. Two miscreants booked under PSA in Baramulla, lodged in Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu: J&K Police

BARAMULLA: According to police, two miscreants were arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in the Baramulla area of North Kashmir and taken to Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal jail in Jammu on Monday. According to a statement released here, "Acting tough against ANEs Baramulla Police booked two persons namely Fayaz Ahmad Kumar alias Narshima son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Khanpora Baramulla & Safeer Ahmad Bhat alias Safeer Molvi son of Ab Majeed Bhat resident of Janbazpora Baramulla under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority." After being taken into custody, the booked individuals were placed in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. "Pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these persons and were involved in disturbance of L&O and subversion" according to the statement. Furthermore, "despite their involvement in many FIR's they did not mend their anti national & social-activities" , according to it.
