JKP attaches property of notorious drug peddler worth lacs in Kulgam

KULGAM: In the Kulgam area of South Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed on Wednesday to have attached a property worth lacs belonging to a known drug dealer. According to a police spokesperson, in an unrelenting effort to stop the drug trade, Kulgam Police has continued to take proactive measures against offenders. Today, under section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act 1985, Kulgam Police attached property (a double-story residential house and cowshed) measuring 1291.48 square feet, valued at Rs 2562425, and 1139.5 square feet, valued at Rs 678803, respectively, belonging to a notorious drug peddler named Bashir Ahmad Khanday Son of Mohd Sultan Khanday R/O Nippora. The property was found to have been obtained unlawfully during the Kulgam police's investigation and inquiry. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner. The aforementioned drug dealer is pertinently connected to Police Station Qazigund Case FIR number 148/2022. JAMMU:  Originating from one of the original villages on the Line of Control in the Uri area, Senior Cadet Captain Ulfat Khan has created history by being the first female cadet ever chosen to lead the Parade at the Prime Minister's Rally (PM Rally) at Republic Day Camp 2024, which will take place in New Delhi. This incredible accomplishment not only made the JK&L Directorate and the 1 J&K Naval Unit proud, but it also brought attention to the Govt College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu, where Ulfat is pursuing her BA Eng (Hons) in spite of all obstacles. Police rescue 300 tourists stranded near Atal Tunnel in Rohtang after snowfall

KULLU: Following Tuesday night's intense snowfall, 300 visitors who were stuck close to the Atal Tunnel's South Portal (SP) in Rohtang were rescued by Himachal Pradesh Police. According to Kullu SP Sakshi Verma, "three hundred tourists were travelling at the South Portal (SP) of ATR when about fifty vehicles and one bus from the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) were trapped. The ATR has been cleared of all tourists." SP Kullu went on to say that she carried out a rescue mission with the assistance of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manali, Tehsildar Manali, Station House Officer (SHO) Manali, and a team.This is in response to an orange notice that the India Metrological Department issued on Tuesday for a number of locations in Himachal Pradesh, warning of the probability of rain in some areas of the state and snow in the higher mountains during the course of the following 48 hours. IMD states that there is a chance of heavy rain or snowfall in certain areas of the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul, Spiti, Mandi, and Shimla between the late hours of January 30 and the early hours of February 2. Snowfall has been forecast by the Meteorological Department for both the lowlands and the state's high-altitude regions. In the higher regions of Himachal Pradesh, rain and snow are possible starting tonight and lasting for the next five to six days. Tonight is when the rainy activity will begin. There is a risk of moderate to severe snowfall in the districts of Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and Kullu on January 31 and February 1. For these places, we have issued an orange alert. Districts of Kangra, Bilaspur, and Shimla are likely to have rain and thunderstorms with lightening activity, according to IMD Senior Scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma.
