SRINAGAR, Feb 18: In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu on Tuesday, security troops in Kashmir have been placed on alert. At numerous locations throughout the city and beyond, police and paramilitary forces are randomly inspecting cars, according to statements made by officials here on Sunday. Srinagar, Feb 18: According to officials here on Sunday, fresh snowfall fell on Kashmir's higher peaks as rainfall in the valley's lowlands lowered the temperature by several degrees. Since early in the morning, snowfall has been observed in all of Kashmir's hilly and mountainous regions, they said. There were light to moderate showers across the valley plains, which included Srinagar city, they said. Officials reported that numerous roads leading from the main valley to isolated places like Machil in Kupwara district, Gurez in Bandipora district, and Sonamarg in Ganderbal district had been closed due to the snowfall.Due to snow, the Mughal road that connected the Rajouri-Poonch area of Jammu division to the Shopian district of Kashmir is also blocked. However, according to the officials, there was some traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway until recently. For the next three days, Kashmir Valley is expected to see moderate to heavy precipitation in the form of rain or snow, according to the weather office.
