Div Com Jammu reviews progress on Delhi Katra Expressway, Ring Road

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar presided over a meeting of interested Deputy Commissioners and NHAI executives today to assess the status of the construction on the Jammu Ring Road Project and the Delhi Amritsar Katra Motorway Project. The meeting was attended by Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner for Jammu; Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner for Kathua; Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner for Samba; ACR Reasi, Chief Engineer for JPDCL; Project Directors for NHAI; and other relevant personnel. The Jammu Ring Road Project and the Delhi-Amritsar Katra Motorway were also closely investigated by the Div Com. It was notified that all executed packages had work ongoing. The Div Com also looked at the distribution of compensation and the acquisition of land.For the efficient completion of work on prestigious road projects, he gave the pertinent Deputy Commissioners instructions to resolve land difficulties and bottlenecks, if any, on a priority basis. Additionally, he gave them instructions to finish the payment of land acquisition payments in a timely way. The Div Com urged NHAI officers to keep in constant contact with the relevant Deputy Commissioners in order to handle minor remaining concerns, and it was reported that the majority of the land issues had been resolved. In order to meet the expressway's deadline for completion, NHAI officers were urged to speed up construction on the Delhi-Katra section. The Div Com strongly noted the slow development on the package falls in the Reasi district and gave the Project Director the order to hire extra workers and equipment for quick progress.The Divisional Commissioner emphasised the importance of maintaining surfaces where work has been done properly in order to ensure efficient traffic flow on the National Highway. The Div Com instructed Chief Engineer JPDCL to move a power line that was coming into the Ring Road project's route at Jagti as soon as possible while studying Ring Road. Wholesale Inflation Remains In Negative For 6th Month At -0.26% In Sep

NEW DELHI, Oct 16: According to the Wholesale Price Index, wholesale inflation in India remained zero through September for the sixth consecutive month, according to official statistics released on Monday. It entered the negative range in April of this year. Similar to this, the WPI was reported to be negative in the early stages of Covid in July 2020. According to official figures issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, wholesale inflation in September was (-) 0.26 percent compared to (-) 0.52 percent in August and (-) 1.23 percent in July.The main cause of the deflation in September is a decrease in prices for food items, mineral oils, textiles, basic metals, and chemicals and chemical products when compared to the same month last year. Following the statistics ministry's announcement on October 12 that headline retail inflation had dropped to a three-month low of 5.02 percent in September, the WPI data was released on October 13. Every month on the 14th (or the following working day), the government publishes index numbers for wholesale pricing. The index figures are created using information gathered from official sources and particular manufacturing facilities located throughout the nation.In October 2022, wholesale inflation as a whole was 8.39 percent; it has subsequently decreased. Notably, up until September of last year, inflation measured by the wholesale price index (WPI) had reached double digits for 18 straight months. While still above the optimum 4% scenario, retail inflation in India is currently over the RBI's 2–6% comfort range in September. Retail inflation in September was 5.02 percent. With the exception of the most recent pauses, the RBI has increased the repo rate by a total of 250 basis points since May 2022 in an effort to combat inflation. BANDIPORA: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a review meeting with the Bandipora District Administration to assess the state of the district's infrastructure projects, Centrally supported programmes, and UT sector initiatives. Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary, Sh Abdul Gani Bhat, the chairman of the district development council in Bandipora, Sh Vijay Kumar, the ADGP in Kashmir, Sh Sarmad Hafeez, the secretary of the youth services and sports department, Sh Vijay Bidhuri, the divisional commissioner in Kashmir, and other senior officials were present at the meeting. The Lt. Governor gave the district administration specific instructions to carry out a winter action plan in order to improve the quality of life for residents.He gave the Power Development Department instructions to promptly replace any damaged transformers and to maintain a buffer stock for remote and snow-covered areas. The Lt. Governor gave the Power, Education, Health, Agriculture & Horticulture, and Tourism Departments instructions to work in a mission mode to support Bandipora's growth and development after reviewing the sector-by-sector developments. The district's development would be accelerated by tourism. He emphasised that in order to fully realise Bandipora's enormous tourism potential, the administration and stakeholders must take immediate action. The Lt. Governor urged the district administration and other stakeholders to work together to promote cooperatives in the district and implement the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme effectively. DC lists measures for optimal use of multi level bus stand

JAMMU: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya convened a meeting with the district administration to discuss operational issues and work with stakeholders at the location in an effort to close gaps and improve the effectiveness and prudent functionality of the multi-level parking garage at Jammu Bus Stand. Officers from the Jammu Development Authority, including SSP Traffic Jammu City, Faisal Qureshi, and SP North, Kulbir Handa, as well as Additional Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Piyush Dhotra, Tehsildar Jammu Kamal Preet Singh, and Superintending Engineering attended the meeting. JK Govt clarifies PMJAY-SEHAT Scheme implementation amidst misinformation

JAMMU: The execution of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana - SEHAT (PMJAY-SEHAT) scheme has been the subject of complaints and claims, according to the Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar, who spoke at a news conference today. One of the main accusations included a loss of 500 billion rupees. According to the government, the entire premium paid to Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company (BAGIC) for the policy period of December 26, 2020, to March 14, 2022, was Rs. 304.59 Crores, whereas BAGIC paid out Rs. 398.41 Crores in total claims to hospitals (both public and private). As a result, the claim of a loss is unfounded because the insurance company suffered a 93.82 crore loss in money.There has also been misinformation spread regarding the contract renewal and termination clause. The maximum duration was specified at three years and was renewed every 12 months, as per the agreement between BAGIC and the State Health Agency. The contract said that any extension beyond the first year would be subject to mutual agreement; nevertheless, the insurance company chose to end the partnership after the first year due to financial losses. The State Health Agency of J&K agreed into a temporary Stop Loss agreement with BAGIC in order to prevent service interruptions until a new insurance provider was chosen. The government took on all of the risk of losing claims during this time. The agreement serves the public interest by ensuring the continuity of healthcare services at a reasonable cost.According to the government, the number of eligible families remained the same throughout the policy period, which ran from December 26, 2020, to December 25, 2021, and the subsequent interim period of 79 days, totaling 21.24 lakhs, in defiance of claims that it was increased to the insurance company's advantage. The National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India, issued instructions for the execution of the scheme, which the Government of Jammu and Kashmir emphasised it would follow. This includes adopting the Health Benefits Packages (2.2 version) for implementation and using the Model Tender Document to transparently choose insurance providers.The government has paid insurance firms a total of Rs. 1175.32 Crores in premiums since the PMJAY-SEHAT scheme was introduced. In exchange, insurance companies paid out claims to affiliated hospitals totaling Rs. 1,249.33 crores, helping around 5.67 lakh patients. Patients with fatal and life-threatening illnesses have received critical medical attention thanks to the programme. The risk has been transferred to insurance companies as a result of the insurance model, which has caused them to pay almost Rs. 74 crores in addition to the premium to accredited public and private hospitals. The UT's healthcare system has been reinforced by this model, which has also greatly decreased out-of-pocket costs for families who need hospitalisation.Additionally, a 104 Call Centre and a feedback system utilising QR codes have been put into place, and nearly 99% of patients gave their treatment experience an Excellent or Good grade. The government emphasised that the accusations are unfounded, fraudulent, and meant to damage the scheme's reputation. It reaffirmed its dedication to offering the general population high-quality healthcare services. IT dept recovers over Rs 42 cr cash during raids on Karnataka contractors

BENGALURU: As part of its tax evasion investigations against some Karnataka-based contractors and others connected to them, the Income Tax Department on Friday discovered more than Rs 42 crore in cash hidden in a residential building here, according to official sources. Prior to assembly elections in five states, the searches set off a political brawl between the BJP and the Congress, which are currently in power in Karnataka. According to official sources, the department has sent out cash counting devices and more personnel to determine the total quantity of cash recovered. The searches are currently in progress. According to officials, a substantial portion of the cash was taken from a vacant apartment block in Karnataka's capital where it was kept hidden in cardboard boxes. More over Rs 42 crore in cash has been found so far, and searches are still being conducted. The department is also looking into whether this money, which seemed to be undeclared, was intended to be transferred to nearby Telangana, where assembly elections will be conducted next month. The recovery was the focus of criticism from BJP leader and former deputy chief minister C N Ashwath Narayan, who claimed that the funds were obtained from contractors as commission to finance elections in five states. He claimed that there was talk in the city that the funds were raised for the Telangana elections and claimed they were funds obtained as "commission" to pay off contractors' outstanding debts to the government totaling Rs 650 crore. Ravi Kumar wanted an investigation. Similar accusations have been made against the in charge Congress by a number of senior BJP leaders. Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, rejected the "baseless" accusations and declared that "no state (unit of Congress) will ask (for money). We won't also give it... Do you have a copy?
