FASTags With Incomplete KYC To Be Deactivated Post Jan 31, Says NHAI

NEW DELHI, Jan 15: The state-owned NHAI said on Monday that banks will deactivate FASTags with a valid balance but insufficient KYC after January 31, 2024. NHAI launched the "One Vehicle, One FASTag" initiative, which aims to discourage using a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a single vehicle, in order to improve the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and provide seamless movement at toll plazas, according to a company statement. Additionally, it stated that NHAI is urging FASTag customers to finish the "Know Your Customer" (KYC) process on their most recent FASTag by upgrading KYC in accordance with RBI rules. The statement advised consumers to make sure their most recent FASTag's KYC is finished in order to prevent any trouble. “Only the latest FASTag account shall remain active as previous tags will be deactivated/blacklisted after 31st January 2024,” the notification read. FASTag users can contact the closest toll plazas or toll-free customer service number of their individual issuing banks for more help or inquiries. According to the statement, NHAI took this action in response to recent claims that many FASTags were given for a single vehicle and that FASTags were issued without KYC, which is against RBI mandate. Apart from this, FASTags are sometimes purposefully not fastened on the windscreen of the car, resulting in unnecessary delays at toll plazas and causing inconvenience to fellow national highway drivers. With over 8 crore users and a penetration rate of almost 98%, FASTag has completely changed the nation's electronic toll collection system. According to the announcement, the "One Vehicle, One FASTag" project would guarantee smooth and comfortable travels and assist toll operations become more efficient. JAMMU, Jan 15: With a goal of generating 300 MW of electricity from solar power by 2025, some 20,000 government buildings will have solar rooftop installations. The government has set a target of producing 300 MW of electricity by 2025, according to official sources who stated on Monday that the departments under government control in Jammu and Kashmir will receive their electrical supply from solar energy. The Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) will carry out rooftop solar projects on as many as 20,000 government buildings, according to official sources.They disclosed that as of right now, 1900 government buildings had rooftop solar projects installed, producing 27.61 MW of electricity. "JAKEDA and other sister concern departments have assisted in the establishment of these projects," they stated, mentioning that the combined load of government-affiliated institutions is approximately 600 MW. "The load of the government related entities, including hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, defence establishments, and street lights, aside from 22,49,4 registered government offices, is approximately 600 MW out of the approximately 4000 MW load with JPDCL," they stated."The J&K government will save approximately Rs 700 crore annually if only 50% of the energy needs are met through rooftop solar projects. Approximately 15 percent of energy is consumed by the government establishments, which is estimated to be 3000 million units of electricity annually," they continued. According to official sources, educational institutions with greater potential for solar power generation, such as Kashmir University, National Institute of Technology, and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, will also experience a decrease in their electricity consumption and consequent financial burden. "Government departments' increased electricity load will be relieved by reducing their electricity consumption," they stated.Official sources stated, "Several government departments are still not submitting their monthly electricity bills, despite the fact that the outstanding dues of various government departments are worth crores, which were waived off under a scheme." "In the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security, low-carbon emission, economic growth, and prosperity, JAKEDA promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including hydropower, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and hydrogen energy," the statement reads. J&K generates only 600 MWs hydroelectricity against generation capacity of 3500 MWs during winters

JAMMU: Regarding the false information about Ratle Power Projects that has appeared in a number of newspapers and other media outlets, the following is a point-by-point rebuttal complete with statistics: Both the State and Central sectors of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir are developing hydropower projects. Eleventy million of the 3500 MW installed generation capacity now in use comes from plants owned by UT, which include the 110 MW Lower Jehlum, 110 MW Upper Sindh, and 900 MW Baglihar projects. The remaining 2300 MW comes from central sector plants, with important ones being Salal, Dul-Hasti, Uri, and Kishanganga. Because of a drop in river levels, power plants in J&K, both in the central and state sectors, can only produce a maximum of 600 MW during the winter months compared to their rated capacity of 3500 MW. But in winter, when demand peaks at 3200 MW, it's clear that hydroelectric power facilities are unable to meet J&K's electricity needs. The majority of the electricity generated by J&K's own power plants comes from the 900 MW-producing Baghliar Hydro Electric Project (BHEP).A total of 200–250 MW are produced by other locally owned power plants, including as Upper Sindh, Lower Jehlum, Chennani, etc. Through UT's own producing plants, this amounts to about 1100–1140 MW, with a winter decrease to about 200 MW. Throughout the winter, Central Generating Stations (CGS) both inside and outside of J&K provide the remaining power needed. A significant portion of the 1140 MW installed capacity in the UT sector—roughly 1030 MW, or 88% of the total capacity—is used in J&K. The remaining 150 MW is sold outside of J&K in accordance with agreements made in 2009—first through PTC and then bilaterally with Haryana. The Government of India has set Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets, making it mandatory for every State/UT to procure some quantum of hydro and…
