MD JPDCL visits Data Centre; directs for 24×7 availability of customer care executives

JAMMU: Today, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) warned negligent customers that they would face harsh consequences for any such behaviour on their side and sternly urged the officers to maintain a watchful eye out for instances of illegal connections, metre tampering, and billing irregularities. When Vikas Kundal, the managing director of JPDCL Jammu, paid an unexpected visit to the data centre and customer care centre at Gladni Grid Station, Narwal, he gave these instructions to the pertinent employees. The MD warned that metre tampering puts consumers' safety at risk by posing a risk of electrical fires, explosions and other safety concerns that could have serious effects, even as he urged them to abstain from any criminal conduct of this kind.Conversely, it will force customers to deal with frequent power outages as a result of their own negligence in engaging in connecting up or tampering with metres. He instructed the employees to closely monitor the hooking and bypassing of metres via online mode and to report any instances of such behaviour to the relevant sub-divisions so that the defaulters would face harsh consequences. The MD examined the customer service centre during the visit and assessed how well the crucial component was operating. He gave the involved personnel instructions to be accessible to address customer complaints around-the-clock. He urged everyone to contact the toll-free lines 1912/0191-2479122 if they had any complaints about power or billing. During the CNET inspection, the MD was informed about the latest system upgrade to the JPDCL software, which connects it to banking software and smart metres to offer a seamless end-user experience. He underlined that JPDCL software needs to be updated often to satisfy the demanding requirements as the company's customer base grows. He also noted that extensive back-end support will be needed for the installation and transition to smart metres to be successful. Bavinder Kundal, Chief Engineer, Distribution, and other officers accompanied the MD. Anil Verma, the Executive Engineer for the IT & C Division at JPDCL, had previously informed the MD on the general operations of the IT Division. Lok Sabha Takes Up Bill To Amend Local Body Laws In J&K

New Delhi, Feb 6: A bill to give reservations to members of Other Backward Classes in Jammu and Kashmir's panchayats and municipalities as well as to align local body rules in the Union territory with the Constitution's provisions was brought up for consideration by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Jammu and Kashmir Local Bodies Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was introduced by Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai and is scheduled to be passed by the House. On Monday, the bill was presented to the House. The Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act of 2000, the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act of 2000, and the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act of 1989 are all intended to be amended by this bill. According to Rai, the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act's provisions regarding the state election commissioner "are at variance" with the Constitution. Hasnain Masoodi, a member of the National Conference, participated in the discussion and stated that the government has not set a date for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which became a union territory after Article 370 was repealed and bifurcated. He stated that the Supreme Court's decision to impose an upper bound on the holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is a source of "shame" for the government. SRINAGAR, Feb 5: Legal action has been taken by the Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir (CBMAK) against Sony Pictures Networks, the company behind the hit reality series "Shark Tank India," and Tramboo Sports Pvt. Ltd. Claims made on the show during an episode that aired on January 30 of this year are the source of the controversy. The official handout from CBMAK, the acknowledged association representing all cricket bat producers in the Kashmir valley, strongly refuted the claim that Tramboo Sports is the only company producing cricket bats made of Kashmir willow.The Association said that Tramboo Sports' remarks on "Shark Tank India" had deceived the public and seriously harmed the businesses of its members. It voiced extreme concern about these remarks. The Association said that these falsehoods had caused a “severe blow” to the sales of the bats made by its members and had tarnished the standing of the whole locally produced bat industry in Kashmir. CBMAK established the foundation for its allegations against Tramboo Sports by highlighting the exceptional quality of bats made by its members, which are supported and used by a number of famous cricket players.CBMAK expressed shock at the statements made by Tramboo Sports on January 30, 2024, in the "Shark Tank India" Season 3 episode. They claimed that in order to hurt CBMAK members, Tramboo Sports misrepresented themselves as the only producers of Kashmir willow bats. The Association said that by misrepresenting the public and buyers, Tramboo Sports' false claims had negatively impacted the supply and sales of bats made by CBMAK members, damaging the reputation of the local industry.As the sole and authentic representative of Kashmir's cricket bat makers, CBMAK asserted the unwavering backing of its members and positioned itself as the defender of the well-being and success of the region's bat manufacturing sector. UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna Presents Rs 7.36 Lakh Crore Budget For FY25 In State Assembly

LUCKNOW, Feb 5: The budget for the state legislature was given by Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna on Monday. It has an expenditure of Rs 7.36 lakh crore, which is more than the current fiscal budget of Rs 6.90 lakh crore. The state finance minister stated during the budget presentation that new initiatives of Rs 24,863.57 crore are included in the overall expenditure of Rs 7,36,437.71 crore for the upcoming fiscal year. The state allocated Rs 6.90 lakh crore for 2023–24, which includes new projects of Rs 32,721 crore. The state government has projected total revenues of Rs 7,21,233.82 crore for the upcoming fiscal year. This amount comprises predicted revenue receipts of Rs 6,06,802.40 crore and capital receipts of Rs 1,14,531.42 crore.The state's portion of the central tax pool, which is Rs 2,18,816.84 crore, and its own tax revenue, which is Rs 2,70,086 crore, make up the estimated Rs 4,88,902.84 crore share of tax collection in revenue receipts. The anticipated total cost comes to Rs 7,36,437.71 crore. Rs 2,03,782.38 crore has been set aside for the capital account and Rs 5,32,655.33 crore for the revenue account out of the total expenditure. A deficit of Rs 15,103.89 crore is predicted in the budget after deducting all expenses from the consolidated fund's income.According to Khanna, the qualifying recipients' monthly payment under the Destitute Women Pension Scheme will now be Rs 1,000 instead of Rs 500. Up to 31,28,000 impoverished women have benefited from the programme as of the third quarter of 2023–2024. The minister stated that the goal of the Women Farmer Empowerment Project is to develop 200 producer groups in the fiscal year 2024–2025 in order to give technical support. District Magistrate Jammu orders nullification of land mutation

JAMMU: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya has issued an order nullifying a land modification with number 42, dated October 3, 2005, on the grounds that it is unsustainable legally. The applicants Sukhdev Singh, Romesh Singh, and Subash Singh submitted a representation claiming possession of a 48 Kanal 07 Marla plot of land in the village of Paragpura, Tehsil Akhnoor, which led to the order. The petitioners claimed there were inconsistencies in the land records, claiming that even though they had owned the land since March 7, 2002, the documents continued to list the State as the owner and possessor. According to a thorough report by Tehsildar Pargwal that included pertinent revenue documents, the petitioners did, in fact, buy the designated land in 2002.Contrary to the Land Revenue Act, inconsistencies were found in the issuing of the Fard, dated February 11, 2002, which was based on the 1966–67 Jamabandi rather than the most recent one available in 1995–96. After more research, it was discovered that 34 Kanal 06 Marlas of the bought land had been escheated to the State by Mutation No. 24 in accordance with the Agrarian Reform Act of 1976. The District Magistrate called attention to two major infractions: "The illegal issuance of the Fard by revenue officials, violating provisions of the Land Revenue Act" and "The escheatment of the purchased land to the State." Consequently, the District Magistrate issued an order to revoke Mutation No. 42, which was issued on October 3, 2005, with regard to the part that was escheated to the State. Tehsildar Pargwal was instructed to swiftly enter the order into revenue records and provide a report on the actions performed within a two-day period. In addition, the delinquent officials accountable for the unauthorised Fard issuance must be identified in order to take the necessary follow-up measures.
