First electric engine train trial run on Sangaldan-Khari section held

RAMBAN, Feb 13:  On Tuesday night, the first eight-coach electric engine train of the USBRL project made its way from the Sangaldan-Khari segment to the 111-kilometer Banihal-Katra stretch. The train trial run between the Banihal-Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan Railway Stations was observed by a sizable crowd. The Konkan and AFCON International Limited engineers, hired by Northern Railway for the USBRL Project, have reported that Siemens Limited has finished the 25 kV Railway Electrification (ROCS) work between Sangaldan and Khari Stations, and Northern Railway Firozpur Division has successfully completed the first Memu trial run of an electric engine train consisting of eight coaches.They claimed that the trial run was carried out on the USBRL project's Banihal-Khari-Sumbar Sangaldan sections in front of Northern Railway officials and engineers. Additionally, the engineers declared that the USBRL project's Banihal-Sangaldan segment in the Ramban area is operational. According to a representative of Northern Railway's Firozpur Division, the Sangaldan-Banihal segment of the USBRL project has been finished and is now prepared for the required CRS inspections.In the meantime, a statement from the Chief Administrative Officer of the Northern Railway Construction Organisation for the USBRL project said that the newly built lines in the Firozpur Division's Khari-Sumber (13.656 km) and Sumber-Sangaldan (19.504 km) sections will soon be open for electric train operation. Following the tram inspection on 15 February, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will undertake a high-speed trial of the stretch by special train on 16 February.
