JAMMU: On Saturday, a Top Jammu police officer gave the order to all other officers to stay vigilant and implement a perfect anti-terrorism security system. Anand Jain, the Inspector General of Police for the Jammu zone, was speaking at a conference called to discuss security and law and order issues in the Udhampur district. Jain's first trip to Udhampur since assuming the position of Inspector General of Police last month was this one. In his interactions with civil society, he also urged them to work with law enforcement to combat the drug problem and identify anti-social and anti-national groups trying to disturb the tranquilly."All officers need to remain alert and vigilant and adopt a foolproof security system to neutralise any terrorist activity in their area of responsibility," the Inspector General of Police stated. Additionally, he urged the police to take the required actions to combat the drug problem strictly and to make great efforts to apprehend the leaders of the drug-smuggling organisations. Prior to this, Udhampur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joginder Singh gave a briefing to the assembly regarding law and order, crime, and security conditions, in addition to other measures being implemented in the district to uphold tranquilly and eradicate the drug problem. He also outlined the steps taken to enhance policing and fortify the security grid. Jain convened a conference with members of the Panchayati Raj Institution, traders, and senior residents, among others. Srinagar, Nov 4: According to officials on Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has become the first law enforcement agency in the nation to implement GPS tracker anklets for the purpose of tracking terror suspects who are being released on bond. The GPS tracker anklet is a wearable gadget that is placed around the target person's ankle to track their movements. The technology is already being utilised in Western nations including the USA, UK, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand to track the whereabouts of accused individuals under house arrest, parole, or bail, which significantly reduces the number of people incarcerated.The GPS tracker anklet has been introduced by J-K Police authorities from the State Investigation Agency (SIA) to monitor terror suspects who have been granted bail. According to them, the J-K Police is the first law enforcement agency in the nation to use this kind of equipment. The gadgets were installed, according to the officials, following an order from a Special NIA Court in Jammu, which directed the police to put a GPS tracker anklet on a terror suspect. The prosecution department of the police had emphasised the significance of this decision.Giving specifics of the case, the authorities stated that accused Ghulam Mohd Bhat had requested bail in a formal complaint filed under several UAPA articles. In the interim, the accused requested to be freed on bond while the bail case was ongoing. According to them, the accused is on trial for his affiliation with various terrorist groups and his involvement in financing terrorism under the direction of the banned group Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). Bhat attempted to carry Rs 2.5 lakh in terrorist proceeds at HM's request when he was detained in the present FIR.According to the officials, the accused was also found guilty in a different case by the NIA Court Patiala House, Delhi, of conspiring to commit a terrorist act and of being a member of a terrorist organisation. The prosecution department of Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ), Jammu, emphasised in the Special NIA Court, Jammu, the need of closely monitoring the terror accused and the strict requirements for granting bail under the UAPA, 1967, the officials said. "The Special NIA Court, Jammu, was pleased to pass an order directing J-K Police to affix a GPS tracker anklet on the accused after finding merit in the prosecution's submissions," they continued.According to them, J-K Police is the first police agency in the nation to allow people who are requesting bail to have GPS tracker anklets attached to them. Notably, the District Development Commissioner gave the pertinent departments explicit instructions to act decisively to prevent the use of single-use plastics in the area surrounding the shrine. With this direction, the path leading to the shrine and the surroundings around it will be kept clean and single-use plastics will be prohibited. NEW DELHI, Nov 4: The government authorised the issuing of the 29th tranche of electoral bonds on Saturday, ahead of assembly elections in five states. The bonds will go on sale on November 6. The choice was made in the midst of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram assembly election campaigns. These states have elections from November 7 to November 30. Voter tallying is scheduled for December 3. In an attempt to increase openness in political fundraising, electoral bonds have been promoted as an alternative to financial contributions to political parties.The finance ministry released a statement saying, "Government of India has authorised State Bank of India (SBI), in the XXIX Phase of sale, to issue and encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 Authorised Branches wef November 6-20, 2023." In March 2018, the first set of electoral bonds were sold. An eligible political party may only cash electoral bonds via an account with an allowed bank. The only bank that is permitted to issue electoral bonds is SBI.Bengaluru, Lucknow, Shimla, Dehradun, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Patna, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Raipur, and Mumbai are among the authorised SBI branches. The finance ministry further stated that electoral bonds have a 15-day validity period from the date of issuance and that if they are deposited after that time, no payment will be made to the political party that is the payee. It further said, "On the same day, the electoral bond deposited by an eligible political party in its account shall be credited."Indian people and companies incorporated or founded in the nation may purchase electoral bonds. MUMBAI: Mumbai police reported on Saturday that Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, had received new threat emails that threatened to punish him severely if he disregarded earlier communications requesting Rs 400 crore in extortion. Two threatening emails with the sender identifying himself as Shadab Khan were received between October 31 and November, according to the police. "Industrialist Mukesh Ambani received two threat emails once again between October 31 and November 1, warning him of serious consequences for ignoring previous emails wherein the person (sender of the mail) had demanded Rs 400 crore," according to cops.Ambani has previously received emails threatening to shoot him to death if he didn't pay the Rs 20 crore. Then, every time an email was received, the ransom kept going up to Rs 200 crore and Rs 400 crore. Mumbai police had previously stated that the first such threatening email had been issued on October 28. "The sender cites a lack of response to the prior email and increases the ransom," they added. Following receipt of the email, the Mumbai Gamdevi Police filed a case against an unidentified individual under sections 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 387 (putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in response to the complaint of Mukesh Ambani's security in-charge. SRINAGAR, Nov 4:  Jammu and Kashmir DGP R R Swain stated on Saturday that the police have leads in their investigation into the deliberate death of a policeman in the Baramulla area and they promise to prosecute the culprits and those who assist them. The police chief went to the home of Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar, who was killed, in the district of north Kashmir's Wailoo Kralpora. Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, was with him. October 31st saw Dar shot and killed.Speaking to reporters outside the home, Swain stated that the police have promised to apprehend those responsible for the terror crime. We have lost a nobleman, a father, a brother, a member of our police parivar, and a Kashmiri citizen. Director General of Police Swain stated, "All of the officers, including the ADGP, DIG, SSP, and SHO, have vowed to go to the bottom of the matter, identify the killer and all those who supported him in any way, and bring them to justice."He indicated that while the investigation is ongoing, no information will be released. JAMMU, Nov 4: In connection with a case involving terrorism, the Special Investigation Agency (SIA) searched a home in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, according to officials. They also said that the searches took place at the residence of suspect Muhammad Hafiz in Kanuyian village at around four in the morning. The officials claimed that Hafiz was not home when his residence was raided. According to the officials, early in the morning, police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a joint cordon and search operation at Copra top, Bachian Wali, Shiendara, Thandi Kassi, and Mohalla Saedan in the Poonch district. NOV 04, 2023 : A powerful earthquake that started at midnight on Friday in the Jajarkot district of the country claimed the lives of at least 128 people. In the Western Nepalese districts of Jajarkot and Rukum, 80 people lost their lives and over 140 were injured, as reported by state-run Nepal Television. The epicentre of the 6.4-magnitude earthquake was located at Lamidanda in the Jajarkot district. The earthquake that struck at 11:47 p.m. on Friday affected Kathmandu and the neighbouring areas, as well as New Delhi in the neighbouring country of India. Pushpakamal Dahal, also known as "Prachanda," the prime minister, and a medical team made their way to the scene on Saturday morning. According to officials, members of the Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been called up to assist with rescue operations.
