Mysterious redness seen in skies of Ladakh, Indian telescopes capture rare event

LEH: Images of a rare redness in the skies were taken by the Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) at Hanle and Merak, Ladakh, in an unexpected yet breathtaking celestial event. The unusual spectacle of red-colored auroral activity that began on November 5 was ascribed to a Stable Auroral Red (SAR) event, a rare atmospheric phenomenon that contrasts the more common green and blue curtains of light typically associated with auroras at higher latitudes with vivid red skies. A geomagnetic storm—a significant disruption of Earth's magnetosphere brought on by a solar storm—caused the SAR incident. From 10 p.m. until midnight, the northern horizon was illuminated by the red aurora phenomenon, which peaked in intensity at 10:40 p.m.This remarkable occurrence was recorded using an All-sky Camera by the Indian Astrophysics Observatory (IAO), run by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru. These kinds of uncommon events can be captured on camera since it continuously scans the whole sphere of space. Merak, another place in Ladakh on the banks of Pangong Tso, was also able to catch this amazing show of stars. Higher mountains in the area largely blocked Merak's view, which was known as the planned location for the National Large Solar Telescope. Hanle and Merak weren't the only ones attending this SAR event. This unusual show was observed in several places worldwide, making it a worldwide astronomical event.Such an auroral emission at lower latitudes, as 33° North Ladakh, is an uncommon and exciting event, enhancing Hanle's appeal as a centre for scientific research and astrotourism. Studying more of these auroral events from Hanle, especially during the Sun's active periods, excited the IIA. Hanle remains a popular place for astronomy enthusiasts and scholars due to these uncommon celestial phenomena. ‘Tum sala pin nikalega’: BSF man martyred at IB once saved dozens of his colleagues along LoC

NEW DELHI: Lal Fam Kima, the head constable of the BSF, was killed on Thursday in an unprovoked Pakistani sniper attack on the Jammu International Border. He was an intrepid soldier who had previously rescued twelve of his comrades during a counter-terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control. During an operation in the Gool hamlet during the winter of 1998–1999, Kima had cried out, "Tum sala pin nikalega," before he discharged his light machine gun (LMG) to kill a terrorist holed up inside a "dhoke" (mud house). The settlement is situated along the India-Pakistan Line of Control (LoC) in the high parts of the Pir Panjal range.A heartfelt and charming essay about the operation was written by Kima's former commanding officer (CO) and circulated around several Border Security Force (BSF) officers via social media. In Jammu's Ramgarh sector along the India-Pakistan International Border, Kima, 50, was killed in the line of duty on Thursday when he was wounded by a bullet fired by a Pakistani sniper from across the border. The head constable, an Aizawl native, enlisted in the border guard in 1996 and was assigned to the 148th BSF unit, which was tasked with protecting the IB.Kima's former CO said in the "remembrance" post for the brave soldier that when he learned of the tragedy early in the morning, his "heart argued against his mind," wondering whether it was his old colleague who had been killed in an unjustified shooting incident. The ex-commander of the LOC wrote in the post that he had "spent all these years quoting Kima's conspicuous act of bravery and alertness to young officers and troops" during the roughly 25-year historical operation. The article, viewed by claimed that the terrorists were holed up inside a "dhoke" and that, following a firefight and grenade exchange, the militants blew themselves up to execute a "fidayeen" (suicide) attack, killing the BSF party nearby as well. The BSF squad discovered three dead terrorists within the burning remains of the mud hut, even as smoke continued to billow from the "dhoke." "Abruptly, there came a deafening cry. TU MAJOR PIN NIKALEGA? Subsequently, an explosion of LMG caused everyone to flee for safety," the post stated."This was Lal Fam Kima (he was constable then), who had spotted the almost dead terrorist (taken for dead by BSF) removing the pin from grenade even while he was taking his last breath," stated the officer. "While rest of the party was busy rummaging and recovering war like stores, it was the ever-alert Kima who spotted the surreptitious movement of dying terrorist trying to blow off the grenade," the previous chief of staff wrote. He went on, "If the terrorist had been successful, we would have undoubtedly lost dozens of people and the successful, clean operation would have gone bad." "Lal Fam Kima became a martyr today. When he was a young constable with two or three years of experience, he was fearless. As a head constable, he is now fearless. "This modest, straightforward, and modest warrior lived bravely and gave his life bravely," he penned in the post that was circulated among a number of BSF officers and employees. Before Kima's body was returned to his native state of Mizoram, a wreath was placed at his mortal remains in Jammu. His mother, wife, two children, and son all survive him. “Congress aayi, tabahi laayi,” PM at Satna rally in poll-bound MP

MADHYA PRADESH: In Madhya Pradesh, where elections are soon to be held, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new attack on the Congress on Thursday, claiming that the party had brought ruin with it when it came to power. PM Modi remarked, "Congress aayi, tabahi laayi (Congress came, brought with it destruction)" at a rally in Satna. The prime minister went on to say that the public has confidence in Modi's assurances and that the Congress lacks a plan for the development of Madhya Pradesh. "There is no development plan for Madhya Pradesh by Congress. The state's youth perceive Congress as having no future. The state is confident in Modi's assurances. Poori hone ki guarantee ki har guarantee," he remarked.He exhorted the people of the state to vote for the BJP, saying, "Your single vote has worked wonders, as the enemies of the country have lost courage." One vote from your MP would help Modi in Delhi. With just one vote, crooked Congress will be removed from MP." He went on to say that "free ration and free health treatment will stop" if the Congress is elected to power. "The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh was prevented from functioning by obstacles that the Congress at the federal level had put in its way. Here, the Congress forced Madhya Pradesh into this dark hole, from which the BJP has attempted to extract it. The time for sabka vikas, or everyone's development, is now. The Prime Minister declared, "Everyone will get their rights, Dalits, backwards, tribal, and impoverished."PM Modi went on to say that the government had constructed four crore residences for the populace in the last ten years. "The same devotion with which we construct 4 crore houses is also used to build the Ram temple. Modi stated, "This is his assurance to everyone who does not currently own a home—they will." One of the five states scheduled to hold elections in one phase on November 17 is Madhya Pradesh. Voters will be counted on December 3. "Where did the Congress government put all of this money? It entered the 2G fraud, the coal scam, and the Commonwealth scam, but I put an end to them all. The BJP has contributed Rs 10 lakh crore to the poor people's accounts in ten years. Congress should be sorry that you have empowered a watchman. During the Corona era, we initiated the free rationing programme. December will mark the completion of this plan. As a result of suggestions from the public, I have decided to continue this scheme for a further five years. Four lakh families in Satna district won't have to worry about rations anymore, according to PM Modi. Voters in the state's 230 Assembly seats will select legislators on November 17.
