Security situation under control; infiltration a challenge: J&K DGP

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police R R Swain stated on Tuesday that although cross-border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir continues to be a concern for the forces, the security situation is under control. "There is control over the security situation. Law and order is the most important component of security, and we believe we have managed public order on the highways, etc.," Swain told reporters at a public grievance redressal programme at Awantipora in the Pulwama region of south Kashmir. According to the DGP, security forces face difficulties dealing with cross-border infiltration. "Yes, the fact that some terrorists are entering from the outside presents a problem for us. They are entering and attempting to destroy the environment here with a few others.It is a difficulty, but we view it from various angles. We observe that fewer of our own boys are joining them, or none of them are. They can have a little following, but the general public does not. When we assert that we are in charge of the security (situation), we have that in mind," Swain continued. "About 90% of the root and origin of the problem is outside," the J&K police chief responded when asked about targeted attacks in the Union Territory. "A Pakistani who is sitting outside and is not from Jammu and Kashmir comes here in some way, perhaps via tunnel digging or infiltration, and then fights us. It presents a challenge. This presents a challenge even though their numbers have decreased. There is a problem with cross-border infiltration in Poonch-Rajouri and to some extent here as well. When things progressively become better, we'll be able to take control of it. We also hope that the people would turn them over to us," he stated. In south Kashmir, it was the DGP's first Public Grievances Redressal Programme. In addition to the Jammu region, he has spoken at such sessions in Kupwara and Srinagar in north Kashmir. Many participants in the workshop brought up various concerns, including robberies, domestic abuse, and land conflicts. Jan 22, 2024 will be remembered as new era in history of rising India: Rana

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana declared today that January 22, 2024, will be remembered as a significant date in India's history as the start of a period marked by inclusivity and harmony, the foundation of Sanatan Dharma, and a global way of life embodied by Vasudeva Kutumbakam. Devender Rana spoke at the grand opening of the magnificent "Mukhya Dwaar" of the ancient Narshinghji Temple at Gharota in Block Bhalwal. "Let this sacred and historical occasion inspire us all to emulate the ideals of Maryada Purushottam Shree Ram and foster the bonds that bind us as a nation believing in compassion, righteousness, and love for humanity," he said. The Senior BJP leader greeted the crowd during Prime Minister Yashasvi Narendra Modi's consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, describing the holy undertaking as a voyage spanning more than 500 years of devotion and resolve. This generation is fortunate to have witnessed the Tapasya of millions of Sanatanis who endured shame but remained unwavering in their resolve to have the home for Ram Lalla—the embodiment of the ideals of righteousness and virtue—where the Lord was born. The construction of the Ram Temple is a testament to the enduring faith and reverence for the Maryada Purshotam. He went on to say that this is a historic turning point in the rich tapestry of growing Bharat's cultural and spiritual history, one that would illuminate the world and pave the path for the country to become Vishwaguru. According to Devender Rana, the Ram Temple symbolises the nation's love for Shree Ram, who stands for compassion, justice, and an unbroken commitment to the truth. The temple is intended to represent the hopes of all Sanatanis for a society based on these timeless principles. The speaker highlighted that the construction of a wonderful temple by thousands of people, regardless of their faith, caste, or area, is a symbol of inclusive India. Within the ancient and historic temple, Rana prayed for harmony and serenity. Additionally, he participated in Special Pujas for world peace and fraternity among hundreds of other devotees. Among those in attendance on the occasion were prominent figures such as Dr Ashwani Mangotra, Capt Raj Kumar, Ashok Kerni, Dil Bahadur Singh, Lala Kishori, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Jai Ram Mangotra, Kuldeep Bhagat, Rana Pratap, and Kuldeep Singh Langeh.
