UDHAMPUR: Senior BJP leaders Pawan Gupta and Devender Singh Rana today described the political developments of August 5, 2019 as the beginning of a new era in Jammu and Kashmir with people of both regions getting equal opportunities in political discourse and ending the hegemony of selected few. They claimed that J&K has been equally empowered politically, socially, and economically post abrogation of Article 370. The two leaders stated the people in this region of the country demanded a change in the stereotypical political management, which had remained the province of the privileged few and benefited the elite political class alone, when speaking to a public gathering at Jhib Thathi in Udhampur this afternoon.Gupta credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership for bringing about such a significant transformation, saying the people of Jammu and Kashmir are now boldly looking towards their economic freedom and political empowerment after escaping the confines of hopelessness. According to Gupta, the BJP has been operating in mission mode to satisfy the ambitions of all social groups, regardless of religion, region, or caste. For the BJP, politics is a means of serving the populace and guiding the country to new heights of growth and progress. He continued, "This is what the world has been witnessing with envy as India's stature is growing in every field." He made reference to the people-friendly policies of the current administration, which put people first and are geared towards the welfare and advancement of all social groups. Devender Rana, who spoke at the event, showed confidence in the ability of Jammu and Kashmir to advance and develop under the strong leadership of Narendra Modi, who has emerged as a worldwide figurehead and to whom nations on all continents seek for guidance in addressing issues that affect them. He made reference to the Prime Minister's pioneering role in the war situation in Ukraine and the safe passage of Indians and others by defeating both foes in this context. Back home, he cited important efforts like the women's reservation bill and asserted that they will revolutionise the political empowerment of almost half the population. The lives of the people, according to Rana, have been changed by other ground-breaking programmes like Ayushman Bharat, One Nation-One Ration Card, StartUp, Digital Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Jan Dhan Yojana, Izzat Ghar project, and many more. As part of a special dispensation, he claimed, over 50 crore families nationwide, including the entire population of Jammu and Kashmir, are eligible for the health coverage of Rs 5 lakh apiece. According to him, the Prime Minister's dedication to the general welfare keeps every employee on mission to fulfil his dream of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Pryas, and Sabka Vishwas. The Prime Minister, he claimed, is guiding India towards becoming the Vishwa Guru. He stated that Bharat is now aiming to be one of the top three economic powers in the world over the next few years, adding that this will occur as Modi Hai Tu Mumkin Hai. Bharat just surpassed China to become the fifth economic power in the world. LAHDC-Kargil elections: Congress leads with 7 seats, NC 5, BJP 2 as 5th round of counting over

KARGIL: At the conclusion of the fifth round of vote counting for the LAHDC-Kargil elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) is in the lead after obtaining seven council seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only managed to win two seats, while the National Conference (NC) won five seats. Additionally, one seat has been won by an independent candidate. The first municipal election in Ladakh since the area became a union territory separate from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 has drawn major attention, and it is going place amid strict security precautions.With victories in the Rambirpoa, Pashkum, Choskore, Chiktan, Taisuru, Baroo, and Parkachik seats, the INC's stellar performance has been especially noteworthy. IAF must be one of best, if not best by time it completes 100 years in 2032: Air Chief

PRAYAGRAJ: Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari said on Sunday that the Indian Air Force must be ever vigilant in the face of "new and emerging threats" even as he reaffirmed that the IAF will continue to defend the nation's territory and deter potential adversaries. His remarks came amid the eastern Ladakh border dispute. The Chief of Air Staff stated that in the current complicated and dynamic strategic environment, fine-tuning the IAF's strategy, establishing strong capabilities, and cultivating a flexible mindset to "prosecute future wars" will be crucial. He stated that integrated combat power application and joint planning will be the "sine-qua-non" of future wars in a speech to airmen on the occasion of Air Force Day. He also added that "we must reform, or become a relic; we must innovate, or else become mundane, and we must transform, or else become irrelevant." To emphasise the significance of air power in the shifting global security landscape, he stated, "If India is on the path to becoming a developed nation by 2047, then the IAF must be one of the best, if not the best, by the time we complete 100 years in 2032." On October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force was formally created. The head of the IAF stated, "We need to understand the nuances of evolving air power, setting the pace to preserve peace and if and when necessary, to fight and win wars." "Mainly, I want to encourage you to aim for excellence in whatever you do. This cannot be discussed," he insisted. The Air Chief Marshal argued in favour of "honestly" evaluating the IAF and addressing any resistance to change."The force structure we must create must be prepared for the future. The conditional sine qua non of future battles will be joint planning and integrated application of military power, he predicted. Without going into specifics, the IAF Chief claimed that during the previous year, the force not only "circumvented" obstacles, but also turned them into opportunities. He added that the current geopolitical environment has given the force a chance to lessen its reliance on imports by developing indigenous capability. "In this complex and dynamic strategic environment, refining our strategy, building robust all round capabilities and more importantly, developing a flexible mindset to prosecute future wars will prove decisive," he stated."In our quest for becoming an air and space force, we must recognise the importance of the space domain and continue developing our space capabilities," he stated. In addition, the Air Chief Marshal emphasised the necessity for the IAF to develop into a "agile and adaptable air force that provides decisive aerospace power in furtherance of our national interests." "The world is evolving quickly, and we must take on all upcoming difficulties. In order to combat new dangers, we must maintain a culture of discipline and integrity while also being always alert. "Our commitment to the defence of our nation remains steadfast and we will continue to protect our territory, deter potential adversaries and ensure the safety and security of our people." Future battles will be unwinnable without coordinated preparation and the employment of military strength, he said. The Chief of Air Staff commented on Angiveers, stating that "We have successfully admitted the first batch of Agniveers and subsequent batches, including women Agniveers, are currently undergoing basic training. He highlighted that all training curricula have seen an overall improvement in training rigour with a stronger focus on self-learning and self-education. He described the exercises the IAF had participated in, saying, "In this year alone, the IAF has participated in eight exercises with friendly foreign countries across the globe and performed incredibly well. The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted substantial operations in Syria, Sudan, and Turkey, airlifting vital supplies and rescuing stranded Indian citizens. Ahead of President’s visit, security beefed up across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: On October 11, President Draupadi Murmu will make her maiden trip to Srinagar, and security has been stepped up all across the Kashmir Valley in preparation. Days before the VVIP visit, Kashmir University's campus is being sanitised in accordance with the President's security procedure. ITBP rescues 56 people in North Sikkim, search continues

SIKKIM: One of the most hit regions by the flash flood was Chungthang in North Sikkim, where 56 people were evacuated, the ITBP said on Sunday. 52 males and four women were claimed to be among those that were saved. "In another rescue operation, 56 civilians (52 Male & 4 Female) were successfully rescued via the ropeway made by the ITBP Rescue Team in Chungthang, North Sikkim," it stated on Twitter. The 81 persons who vanished in the flash flood are still being sought after. Officials reported that 30 bodies had so far been discovered.According to the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA), the flash flood that was caused by a cloudburst in the early hours of Wednesday affected 41,870 people in four districts of the Himalayan state, with Mangan bearing the brunt of the tragedy as a population of about 30,300 was affected. The three more districts that are impacted are Gangtok, Pakyong, and Namchi. According to the SSDMA, 19 of the fatalities were reported in Pakyong, six in the Gangtok district, four in Mangan, and one in Namchi. Army dogs, special radar, and drones have all been used in the search activities, according to officials.6,875 individuals have sought refuge in the 30 relief camps that have been set up throughout the state, the majority of which are shut off from the rest of the nation, and 2,563 people have been rescued from various locations. Over 1,320 homes were also damaged, and 13 bridges were washed away in the four districts of the scenic Himalayan state. JKP Initiates Proclamation Proceedings Against 2 Absconding Militants In Shopian

Srinagar, Oct 7: In the Shopian area of south Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir police, along with the Revenue department, started proclamation proceedings against two fugitive militants on Saturday. Abid Ramzan Sheikh of Chotipora Shopian and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Cheki Cholen, who is reportedly implicated in numerous acts of terrorism, have been the subject of proclamation proceedings, according to the police. At least eight FIRs have been filed against the pair.Shopian Tanushree, a senior superintendent of police (SSP), stated that the district police were collaborating closely with other authorities to follow the law and prosecute these individuals. She claimed that because an open, non-bailable warrant against them was still outstanding as of September 6, 2023, these proceedings had been started against active terrorists who were eluding capture. Accordingly, proclamation notice under section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) issued by the Hon'ble Court of the NIA has been pasted/circulated at their residences and other notable places in their respective native villages, along with revenue officials, with instructions that said wanted terrorists shall surrender before investigation officer or honourable court of law otherwise further proceedings will be initiated in accordance with the law against them, the SSP said.The Shopian Police also used drumming to alert the public to their continued efforts to capture the aforementioned active militants, who are necessary for the investigation of instances involving terrorism. The proclamation procedures and property attachment, according to the police, are a part of a larger effort to combat terrorism and uphold the rule of law. 3 arrested for stealing jewelery worth Rs 1.70 lakh from passenger train

JAMMU, Oct 7: =According to the Railway Police, they have detained three interstate thieves for their role in the theft of gold and silver jewellery worth Rs. 1.70 lakh from a passenger train in Jammu. According to a police spokesperson, on October 10, 2022, a woman went to Police Station GRP Jammu and said that on Platform Number 1 of the Jammu Tawi Railway Station, unidentified burglars had taken her gold and silver items.According to him, a case FIR number 15/2022 under section 380 of the IPC was registered at Police Station GRP Jammu in response to the written complaint, and an investigation immediately began. He added that a number of individuals were questioned during the inquiry and that technical proof was gathered. In this regard, he noted that Albeena Malik, SDPO Railway Jammu, was in charge of the SIT, which had been established by SSP Railway Jammu Mohan Lal Kaith.According to the police spokeswoman, Inspector Madan Lal oversaw various searches that were carried out by the investigative teams in Haryana over the course of the inquiry. DGP Dilbag sanctions around Rs 2 cr welfare loan, relief

JAMMU: Dilbag Singh, the director general of police (DGP), has approved a welfare loan of Rs 1.77 crore for 141 police officers. In order to fulfil the immediate financial needs of 106 retired police officers and the Next of Kin (NoK) of the martyred/deceased officers, he has additionally approved over Rs 22 lakh. According to an order made in this regard, the DGP has approved a welfare loan of more than Rs 1.58 crore in favour of 121 police officers for their own weddings or the nuptials of their children.Similar to this, Rs 17 lakh has been approved for 12 police officers to cover the costs of their children's higher education or professional training, and Rs 1.50 lakh has been approved for three police officers to cover the cost of circumcising their children. According to another order, 79 retired police officers and the NoK of the deceased officers have each been granted a welfare benefit of more than Rs 15 lakh to help with their financial necessities. The DGP has also approved Rs 1 lakh for each of the four NoK of the deceased police officers to be used for their daughters' weddings. Additionally, a welfare aid of more than Rs 3 lakh has been approved in favour of 23 NoK of the martyred police officers/SPOs to help them with their financial needs for medical expenses or the weddings of their children. Police officers are granted a welfare loan that is repaid and paid back in equal monthly installments from their pay, all without interest. The granted welfare relief is not, however, transferable.
