BOSE announces 15% relaxation in syllabus for 10, 11, 12th standard

SRINAGAR, Oct 4: The J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today announced a 15 per cent relaxation in the syllabus for the annual examinations of Class 10th, 11th and 12th.
As per a notification issued here, the Question papers will be set from the entire prescribed syllabus, and students will have to attempt questions equivalent to 85% of the total marks, with internal choice provided.“Each Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) attempted by the student shall be marked individually and the same pattern will be applicable to the Grammar portion in language subjects,” the notification stated.
Officials said the syllabus reduction follows recommendations from the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir and Jammu, and requests from other stakeholders regarding syllabus reduction due to the delayed commencement of the academic session this year, coupled with disruptions.
“It is hereby notified that the prospective eligible students appearing in class 10th, 11th and 12th in the ensuing Annual Regular, 2025 examination (Oct-Nov session) in Kashmir Division and winter zone areas of Jammu Division including UT of Ladakh, shall attempt 85% marks which will correspond to 100% marks, availing thus 15% relaxation in syllabus,” the notification stated.
Officials cited disruptions in the academic year, including heat waves, torrential rains, cloudbursts, and floods, as reasons for the decision, which was approved by the competent authority.
Meanwhile, JKBOSE also notified the date-sheet for Class 10th Annual/Regular 2025 (Oct-Nov session), scheduling examinations from November 3.
Nearly 95,000 students from Kashmir Division, winter zone areas of Jammu Division, and Ladakh UT are expected to appear.
According to the schedule, Mathematics exams will begin on November 3, followed by Social Science on November 7. Science will be held on November 11, and English on November 14.
Urdu/Hindi papers are scheduled for November 17, Computer Science on November 19, and vocational subjects on November 21.
Painting/Art and Drawing will conclude the exams on November 27.
Additional/optional subjects such as Kashmiri, Dogri, Bhoti, Punjabi, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Persian, and Sanskrit, along with Home Science and Music, are scheduled between these dates.
JKBOSE urged students to prepare seriously while reiterating its commitment to conduct the exams with high standards of transparency.
The board also exhorted invigilatory staff to maintain professionalism to safeguard the integrity of the examinations and requested the SED’s support for smooth conduct.
