Jammu, Sep 9: Vikar Rasool Wani, the head of the Congress party’s branch in Jammu and Kashmir, criticised the BJP on Saturday, charging that it was making people “beg before the Supreme Court” for the restoration of their rights.
Wani was speaking at a gathering to welcome Jagdeep Singh, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who joined the Congress at the local party headquarters together with a large number of other workers. Several BJP leaders and other social activists joined the Congress at a different event in Akhnoor.
The head of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) claimed that the people have chosen to install a Congress-led, secular administration in place of the BJP.”The BJP has wrecked everything over the last ten years. Demonetization and rising unemployment are two recent events. Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir’s special status (as defined by Article 370) and statehood were completed. We are currently required to grovel before the Supreme Court, Wani addressed a crowd gathered at the local party office.
He claimed that the “anti-people” policies of the BJP, which has been in power since 2014, first in coalition with the PDP and then as the federal government starting in 2018, are the cause of the unhappiness of Jammu citizens.”Jammu & Kashmir ranks first in the world for unemployment, and all facets of society—including farmers and businesspeople—are severely impacted and struggling financially. Through the implementation of bulldozers, smart electricity metres, and property taxes, they (the BJP) are sucking the blood of the populace, he claimed.
The people have made up their minds to get rid of the BJP and back a Congress-led secular government, Wani said, referring to J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina’s prediction that the saffron party will win more than 50 seats in the next assembly elections. They haven’t finished even a single development project. He claims that the Congress party is enjoying a surge of support in the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region. All facets of society have now seen the true face of the party, therefore they can no longer deceive the people of Jammu, he claimed.
Wani lambasted the BJP administration for being “anti-poor and anti-development” and asserted that administrative lethargy and a lack of political will have made the situation worse for the general public.”BJP has played a key role in escalating people’s suffering. The people of J&K in general, and the Jammu region in particular, are going through the most difficult times amid a climate of uncertainty and political instability, he said.
At a separate event in Akhnoor, on the outskirts of Jammu, some BJP leaders and some social activists joined the Congress, according to a party spokesperson.
