DODA: Sensing defeat from its missteps and betrayal since taking office in 2014, the BJP is avoiding the Assembly and other elections. Despite claims that J&K is returning to normal, the region is now at the whim of bureaucracy, which wants to rule it directly from the centre. As a result, elections are being postponed. Vikar Rasool Wani, the head of the J&K Pradesh Congress committee, stated this at a meeting of party workers in Doda that was well attended. Raman Bhalla, the working president of the JKPCC, and a number of other prominent figures spoke during the gathering. Speaking at the event, Wani claimed that although the Princely State’s reorganisation had brought about stability and progress in J&K, assembly elections were being purposefully postponed in order to establish central government control over the region. He claimed that because the general public is being deprived of their democratic rights, they are suffering greatly in the absence of popular government. It appears that the BJP government at the federal level opposes J&K’s democratic development. The BJP’s policies have led to an unusual scenario in the UT. People have to deal with extreme challenges. The general public is being driven towards economic regression despite numerous claims of development, employment, and wealth, and there is a divide between the administration and the general public. No one is willing to hear the concerns of the populace.People want elections to happen as soon as possible and for their democratic rights to be reinstated, according to Wani. However, the confused BJP is trying to avoid elections by using deceptive strategies and making up claims about growth, among other things. The Congress Party is extremely worried about people’s democratic rights and democracy, which are being threatened by BJP government, the statement goes on. Speaking at the event, Raman Bhalla emphasised the local developmental issues facing the populace and criticised the BJP government for intimidating and punishing them under the guise of various anti-people measures, such as the imposition of various taxes, particularly toll taxes and smart metres. In addition, extreme unemployment has caused economic distress among the populace as a result of the government’s failed policies at the centre and in J&K, which are extremely insensitive to the welfare of the state’s common citizens. Addressing the gathering were prominent figures such as Vijay Hiteshi, Tariq Sheikh, Dina Nath Bhagat, Javed Lone, Sham Lal Baghat, Sheikh Mujeeb, Sheikh Rayaz, and Naresh Gupta.
