JAMMU: According to an order issued here, The suspension of IPS officer Basant Rath, who served the JKP in various capacities, has been extended by six months till January 2024.The Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 2000 batch was suspended in July 2020 after it was claimed that he disobeyed a court order by acting disrespectfully towards his superiors. According to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ order, Rath will remain suspended beginning on July 31, 2023, for an additional 180 days. The July 28 order stated that “Shri Basant Kumar Rath, IPS (AGMUT: 2000) shall continue to remain under suspension for a further period of 180 days beyond 31.07.2023, i.e., up to 27.01.2024,” after taking into account all of the relevant facts and circumstances and the Central Review Committee’s recommendations.On Monday, it was become widely known. According to the ruling, the central review committee recommended the prolongation in accordance with Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, after considering the facts and circumstances surrounding his suspension “in totality.” According to this rule, any government employee against whom disciplinary actions are being considered or are already underway may continue to be suspended until the case’s final decision is made. Rath, an officer with the rank of Inspector General of Police, had disagreements with Dilbag Singh, director general of police in Jammu and Kashmir. Before his suspension, he was transferred to the civil defence and home guards departments.
