Baramulla, Feb 2: According to the official press release, Baramulla Police have opened 24 cases under the NDPS legislation and detained 39 drug dealers, including 3 hard-core dealers who were jailed under PIT NDPS PSA in the Baramulla area in January 2024. According to the press statement, police have also found illegal materials valued at 15.46 lacs. It is important to note that in 2023, there was a significant decrease in drug-peddling cases as a result of the combined efforts of the Baramulla Police. “A total of 264 cases under the NDPS Act were registered in 2023; 75 drug dealers were booked under the PIT NDPS Act/PSA; 07 properties with a combined estimated value of Rs. 3 crores were attached; 34 crores worth of seized contraband was destroyed,” a Baramulla Police official stated. Community members are asked to come forward with any information on drug dealing in their neighbourhood, according to the Baramulla Police. Those caught selling drugs will face legal repercussions. They continued, “The community members should feel reassured by our persistent efforts to combat drug peddlers that we are working to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.”
