‘IED Like Material’ Found, Destroyed On NH In Rajouri

JAMMU, Sept 3: Security personnel discovered and detonated an item like an improvised explosive device (IED) on a national highway in the Rajouri district of Jammu on Sunday, one day after Chief of Army Staff (CAOS), General Manoj Pande, finished his two-day tour to the Pir Panchal region. According to officials, the road was shut down after IED-like material was discovered alongside NHW in Rajouri's Sangpur village. They said that the Army's bomb disposal team performed the required technical analysis of the substance and destroyed it using a controlled technique. Due to this, according to officials, traffic on the national highway between Jammu and Rajouri and Poonch has been halted for more than two hours on Sunday morning. Soldier Electrocuted To Death In Samba

JAMMU, Sept 3:  In a camp in the Jammu and Kashmir district of Samba, an Army soldier was electrocuted to death after coming into contact with a live wire, according to officials on Sunday. According to the officials, engineering squadron member Deepak Pandey (25), who was working on a project late Sunday night, was electrocuted. They claimed that the Uttrakhand-born soldier passed away at the military hospital after being transported there. Div Com reviews renewal of Hotel Licenses

JAMMU: Ramesh Kumar, the Divisional Commissioner for Jammu, presided over a meeting of senior tourism officers and representatives from various stakeholder departments today to discuss the progress of renewing hotel licences. The meeting also included guests from the Jammu section of the Hotel Associations. In order to renew their licences, hotel associations must get NOCs from the Pollution Control Board, Fire Services, Character Certificates, etc. The president of the Hotel Association informed the Div Com of these concerns. They explained that acquiring different NOCs takes a long time and delays the renewal procedure, both of which present problems for hoteliers.The Div Com calmly listened to the concerns and assured the hotel associations that the licence granting procedure will be sped up by streamlining the renewal process.
