SRINAGAR, Jan 12: The meteorological agency predicts that Jammu and Kashmir will be affected by a weak western disturbance on Friday, with isolated areas in the upper ranges perhaps seeing light snowfall. NEW DELHI, Jan 12: Regarding calls to reinstate pre-Covid fare concessions for older citizens and media professionals, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that every passenger receives a 55% concession on train travels. In response to inquiries from the media regarding the reinstatement of concessions, Vaishnaw stated, "The Indian Railway is already offering 55 per cent concession on train fares to every train passenger," without directly answering any queries. Vaishnaw was in Ahmedabad, among other things, to assess the state of the current bullet train project. Prior to the March 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, senior citizens and journalists with official government accreditation received a 50% train fare discount from the Railways.During the lockdown, all railway operations were suspended. On the other hand, a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta decided to review a number of petitions that opposed the new law and gave the Centre notice. JAMMU: An absconder who had been eluding capture for the previous four years was allegedly apprehended by the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu (CBJ). According to a Crime Branch spokesperson, Kulranjan Sharma of Rani Talab Digiana and two other individuals, Kulbir Singh of RS Pura and Nagrotam Singh of Marjali Kangril Jammu, were charged in case number 39/2020 at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471, and 120-B RPC for their roles in forming a criminal conspiracy and defrauding a person of Rs 23.5 lakh by obtaining a bank loan in his favour for the sale of JCB."After collection of evidence, a charge-sheet was presented in the court of law against Kulbir Singh and Narotam Singh but Kulranjan Sharma continued to evade his arrest by constantly changing his locations," he stated.
