Jailed Former Pak PM Imran Khan Gets Bail In Military Installations Attack Cases

Islamabad, Feb 10: Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, was granted bail on Saturday by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in connection with twelve counts pertaining to the attacks on military sites on May 9. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder Khan was granted bail by ATC Judge Malik Ejaz Asif after he paid a surety bond of Rs 0.1 million in all 12 charges, including the attack on the Army Museum and General Headquarters (Pakistan Army), according to The Express Tribune Pakistan. The court ruled that since all of the defendants in the instances from May 9 were free on bond, there was no reason to keep Khan, 71, under arrest. Khan will stay behind bars since he is found guilty in numerous other cases. The ruling by the court was issued the day after Khan's party-backed independents secured around 100 seats in the National Assembly.In thirteen instances within the same case, bail was also granted to Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister. On February 6, Khan and legendary Qureshi were indicted in the counts. When the two appeared in court, the former prime minister told the judge that he had been forcibly detained on May 9 from the grounds of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). After his detention in an alleged corruption case, Khan was charged in several charges pertaining to the May 9 violence. The assault on the General Headquarters (GHQ) gate, rioting in the office of a sensitive institution, and other incidents were among the cases that were reported to Rawalpindi.The claims made in the initial information reports (FIRs) about the instances had been refuted by Khan. Prior to his release from Adiala Prison, Qureshi was escorted out of jail by Punjab police in relation to a case involving the attack on the GHQ. Piyush Goyal, Vice President tear into Congress for ignoring Charan Singh, BJP demands apology from Congress

NEW DELHI: Leader of the House and Union Minister Piyush Goyal took a hard stance against Congress on Saturday, stating that the previous UPA government led by Congress would have given former Prime Minister Chaudhary Singh the Bharat Ratna if he had been a member of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. Additionally, he declared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of Charan Singh's Bharat Ratna is a "moment of pride". In advance of the Lok Sabha elections, he was addressing during the final session of Parliament's current budget session. Piyush Goyal stated in his address that the opposition leader has to apologise to the nation for "insulting" Chaudhary Charan Singh. "...LoP should apologise to the country for insulting Chaudhary Charan Singh," Goyal stated. Praiseing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's choice to present Charan Singh with the Bharat Ratna, he declared, "It is a moment of pride that PM Modi gave respect to Chaudhary Charan Singh by awarding him the Bharat Ratna..." Piyush Goyal took aim at the Congress during his speech, stating, "It is a source of pride that Prime Minister Modi honoured Chaudhary Charan Singh with the Bharat Ratna...The Modi government's awarding of their former prime minister should have been a cause for celebration for the Congress today. Regretfully, though, his last name was Nehru-Gandhi. It would have worked if he had been a member of the first family."The opposition benches were also targeted by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who said, "You have insulted Chaudhary Charan Singh's legacy and you have virtually insulted him." Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh was not on your schedule. By fostering such an atmosphere in the House over Chaudhary Charan Singh, you are harming every farmer in the nation. We ought to hang our heads in shame. "I won't put up with any disrespect against Chaudhary Charan Singh. He is a symbol of unwavering integrity, a perfect public life, and dedication to farming.The Vice President continued, "I have personally witnessed commotion, chaos, condemnation, yelling, and sloganeering." The nation's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, will be given to MS Swaminathan, popularly regarded as the father of the green revolution, along with previous prime ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and PV Narasimha Rao, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday. The current Lok Sabha's term is coming to an end before this year's general elections, which are probably going to take place in April or May. CAA To Be Implemented Before Lok Sabha Polls: Amit Shah

New Delhi, Feb 10: The Citizenship Amendment Act, which was approved by the Parliament in December 2019, would be announced and put into effect before to the next Lok Sabha elections, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on Saturday. "CAA is a national act; it will undoubtedly be informed. It will receive notice before to the polls. Speaking at the ET Now-Global Business conference held in the nation's capital, Shah stated that there should be no misunderstanding over the implementation of the CAA by the polls. "CAA was a government promise made to Congress." Congress promised the refugees that they would be welcomed in India and would be granted Indian citizenship during the time when the country was divided and minorities were being persecuted in foreign countries. They are now going back," Shah remarked. He declared unequivocally that the purpose of CAA was to grant citizenship, not to revoke anyone's already obtained. Minorities in our nation are being incited, particularly the Muslim minority. Since the Act makes no mention of citizenship, CAA cannot take away someone's citizenship. The purpose of the CAA is to grant citizenship to refugees who were subjected to persecution in Pakistan and Bangladesh.The Narendra Modi government's Citizenship Act (CAA) seeks to offer Indian citizenship to non-Muslim migrants who have been persecuted and who came to India before December 31, 2014, including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians. Significant protests broke out around the nation when the CAA was approved by Parliament in December 2019 and was subsequently ratified by the president. The home minister stated that corruption is the main issue in this election, which is related to the impending Lok Sabha polls."The issue in this election is not NDA versus. I.N.D.I.A. This concerns zero tolerance for corruption against corrupt governance. The Union Home Minister stated, "This election is about those who want to secure national security vs. those who, in the name of foreign policy, endanger national security." Lok Sabha Takes Up Discussion On Construction Of Ram Temple

NEW DELHI, Feb 10:  On Saturday, the Lok Sabha began debating the building of a Ram temple in Ayodhya in the midst of DMK members' protests over a matter pertaining to Tamil Nadu fishermen. Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Satya Pal Singh opened the discussion on "the construction of historic Shri Ram Temple and Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ramlala" by stating that Lord Ram belongs to everyone, not only Hindus. Additionally, he charged that the Congress was doubting Ram's existence, which incited a stern response from the opposition benches. Singh claimed that the building of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya was historic. The former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer emphasised that, contrary to popular belief, there is nothing "communal" about the shrine. New Delhi, Feb 10: The BCCI announced on Saturday that star batsman Virat Kohli would miss the remaining Test matches against England for to personal reasons. This puts an end to rumours regarding the star player's availability for the highly anticipated match. The first two Tests had been skipped by Kohli. For personal reasons, Virat Kohli will not be eligible for selection for the rest of the series. The third game is set to begin in Rajkot on February 15.Senior players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were chosen by the national selection committee for the team, although their inclusion is pending approval from the BCCI medical staff. Shreyas Iyer, a senior hitter, has not been selected despite complaining of lower back and groyne stiffness. Nevertheless, the BCCI has not released a medical update for him. It is thought that Iyer would have been dropped regardless, and selectors' decision was made simpler by his injury.Bengal speedster Akash Deep, who has been acknowledged for his continuous performance in first-class cricket and in the recent India A vs. England Lions Test series, is the only new face in the 17-man roster. Saurabh Kumar, the left-arm spinner, has been discharged, Jadeja has returned, and Mohammed Siraj has rejoined the team in lieu of Avesh Khan.
