Srinagar, Feb 10: In an ongoing effort to dismantle Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), an organisation classified as an unlawful association under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act due to funding of terrorism, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at fifteen different locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. An official release stated that NIA teams raided the homes of multiple suspects at five different sites in Srinagar, three in Budgam, two in Kulgam, one in Anantnag, and four in Jammu. "During the extensive searches, incriminating documents and digital devices related to the activities of JeI and its related Trusts in J&K were seized, and over 20 lakh rupees in cash were recovered," the statement continued.Even after the group was outlawed under the UA(P) Act in February 2019, JeI and its members have persisted in promoting terrorist and separatist actions in J&K, according to NIA investigations into the case, which was filed on February 5, 2021. "The prohibited organization's operators had been gathering money through donations from both domestic and international sources," the NIA stated. The money was allegedly raised to support charitable endeavours and other welfare initiatives including health and education, but it was actually utilised to carry out violent and separatist operations, according to NIA investigations. The money was primarily gathered through Zakat, Mowda, and Bait-ul-Mal.Furthermore, it was discovered that well-organized networks of JeI cadres were transferring the money the organisation raised to other terrorist groups that were outlawed, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM). Additionally, JeI was recruiting new members (Rukuns) in J&K and inspiring naïve youth to further its nefarious and separatist actions. Four accused parties were charged earlier in the case by NIA; the investigation is still ongoing. NEW DELHI, Feb 10: In 2022–2023 the ruling BJP received about ₹1,300 crore through electoral bonds, seven times more than the Congress received through the same mechanism during the same year. In the fiscal year 2022–2023 the BJP received ₹2120 crore in total donations, of which 61% came from electoral bonds, according per the party's annual audited report that was filed with the Election Commission. The party made ₹1775 crore in contributions overall in FY 2021–2022. The party's overall revenue increased from ₹1917 crore in FY 2021–22 to ₹2360.8 crore in FY 2022–23. Conversely, the Congress's earnings from electoral bonds decreased to ₹171 crore from ₹236 crore in the fiscal year 2021–2022. Both the Congress and the BJP are acknowledged national parties. In 2021–2022, the Samajwadi Party—a recognised state party—was able to obtain ₹3.2 crore from electoral bonds. It did not get any funding from these bonds in 2022–2023. The TDP, a different state-recognized party, made ₹34 crore in 2022–2023 from electoral bonds, a ten-fold increase over the previous fiscal year. In the most recent fiscal year, the BJP received ₹237 crore from interest, an increase from ₹135 crore in 2021–2022.The BJP paid ₹78.2 crore for the use of aircraft and helicopters out of its overall expenditure on "election and general propaganda," which is less than the ₹117.4 crore it paid in 2021–2022. New Delhi, Feb 10: In Gurdaspur, Punjab, close to the India-Pakistan International Border, the Border Security Force (BSF) shot down another drone manufactured in China, the force reported on Saturday. The BSF troops fired down the quadcopter drone that was trying to cross into Indian territory from Pakistan during its movement on the border close to Rossey village in the Gurdaspur district on Friday night. According to the BSF, the soldiers intercepted the drone and fired at it quickly enough to shoot it down. The damaged drone crashed onto a rural field after losing control. The BSF, which is tasked with policing the 3,323-kilometer border between India and Pakistan, stated that the potential dropping spot was promptly blocked off by its soldiers.After conducting a thorough search, the BSF soldiers were able to locate one small drone that was partially damaged at around 10:18 p.m. According to the BSF, the recovery happened in a farming field close to Rossey hamlet in the Gurdaspur district. Islamabad, Feb 10: Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, was granted bail on Saturday by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in connection with twelve counts pertaining to the attacks on military sites on May 9. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder Khan was granted bail by ATC Judge Malik Ejaz Asif after he paid a surety bond of Rs 0.1 million in all 12 charges, including the attack on the Army Museum and General Headquarters (Pakistan Army), according to The Express Tribune Pakistan. The court ruled that since all of the defendants in the instances from May 9 were free on bond, there was no reason to keep Khan, 71, under arrest. Khan will stay behind bars since he is found guilty in numerous other cases. The ruling by the court was issued the day after Khan's party-backed independents secured around 100 seats in the National Assembly.In thirteen instances within the same case, bail was also granted to Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister. On February 6, Khan and legendary Qureshi were indicted in the counts. When the two appeared in court, the former prime minister told the judge that he had been forcibly detained on May 9 from the grounds of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). After his detention in an alleged corruption case, Khan was charged in several charges pertaining to the May 9 violence.
