EC seeks 3.4 lakh CAPFs for deployment in LS polls, Assembly elections in 4 states

NEW DELHI:  3.4 lakh members of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been requested by the Election Commission (EC) to be phased in for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim. The EC has also made efforts to secure sufficient rolling stocks and all necessary amenities in the trains, guaranteeing a seamless mobilisation and prompt deployment of the forces to carry out election-related tasks.The chief electoral officers of all states and Union territories have requested the deployment of CAPFs for poll-related duties, such as area domination, confidence-building measures, poll day-related duties, guarding of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and strong room centres, counting centre security, etc. during the elections, according to a communication from the EC to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). In order to guarantee free, fair, and peaceful elections, the commission has taken into account the recommendations made by the state CEOs and decided to progressively deploy up to 3,400 businesses of CAPFs throughout all states and Union territory, according to the communication. A CAPF company employs about one hundred people. It is anticipated that 920 CAPF companies will be deployed in West Bengal in phases, with another 635 companies in Jammu and Kashmir, 360 in Chhattisgarh, 295 in Bihar, 252 in Uttar Pradesh, and 250 in each of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Punjab. Havildar Varinder Singh awarded Vishisht Seva Medal for innovative octocopter development

NEW DELHI: Havildar Varinder Singh of the Sikh Regiment in the Indian Army has been given the Vishisht Seva Medal by President Droupadi Murmu for his creation of a "Multipurpose Octocopter," according to an official. The Singh-created 'Multipurpose Octocopter' is a multifunctional drone that may be used for a variety of missions, including grenade dropping, aerial target engagement with weaponry like the AK-47, and logistics support. Singh continued, "The Indian Army will find the 'Multipurpose Octocopter' to be very helpful." "This is also a weapon drone, with the help of a four-hand grenade MGM rifle, the enemy can be killed with pinpoint accuracy, which will prove to be a boon for the Indian Army," he stated."Multipurpose Octocopter: Developed by Havildar Varinder Singh of the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army, this aircraft is capable of performing various tasks such as dropping grenades, engaging targets from the air with weapons like AK-47, and logistics operations. The President of India presented Havildar Varindar Singj with the Vishisht Seva Medal this year in recognition of his accomplishments, according to Indian Army officials. The Indian Armed Forces award the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). It is awarded to Indian Armed Forces personnel at all ranks as recognition for "distinguished service of a high order." The medal has three dark blue stripes on a golden ribbon, and it is made of bronze. On January 26, 1960, the VSM was established as VSM Class-III to honour exceptional service of a high calibre. On January 27, 1967, it was renamed VSM, and it is believed that the provision was granted posthumously.
