India To Treat Pakistan’s Reference To Kashmir At UNSC Meeting “With Contempt It Deserves”

United Nations, Oct 25: India has said that it will not respond to Pakistan's mention of Kashmir in a Security Council meeting about the Israel-Gaza conflict, treating it with the disdain it merits. Ambassador R. Ravindra, India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, made the comments on Tuesday in response to Pakistan's UN ambassador, Munir Akram, bringing up Kashmir at the Security Council meeting over the Middle East crisis. "One delegation made a habitual comment before I finished, referring to Union Territories as essential and inalienable parts of my country," Mr. Ravindra stated."In the interest of time, I would treat these remarks with the contempt they deserve and not dignify them with a response," Mr. Ravindra declared. Prior to this, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed the Security Council, stating that all acts of terrorism, regardless of who is carrying them out—Hamas or Lashkar-e-Taiba, the terror group based in Pakistan, or individuals in Mumbai or Kibbutz Beeri—are illegal and indefensible."We have to uphold every country's right to self-defense and stop such atrocities from happening again. Mr. Blinken stated that "no nation in this body, nor any member of this Council, could or would tolerate the slaughter of its people." The United Nations General Assembly and this Council have emphasised time and again that no act of terrorism is legitimate or acceptable. Blinken informed the UN Security Council, "They're illegal and unjustifiable, whether they target individuals in Nairobi, Bali, Istanbul, Mumbai, New York, or Kibbutz Be'eri.Whether they are carried out by Hamas, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, ISIS, or Boko Haram, they are all illegal and indefensible. Whether the victims are singled out for their nationality, race, religion, or any other reason, they are illegal and unjustified, Mr. Blinken declared. He emphasised that it is the duty of the Security Council to condemn member nations that provide Hamas with weapons, financial support, or training, as well as "any other terrorist group that carries out such horrific acts." REASI: On Tuesday, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham offered prayers at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. He arrived in Katra on Monday night and proceeded straight to a hotel of his own. IAF chief Air Chief Marshal visits troops at LoC in Uri, Kupwara

SRINAGAR: On Tuesday, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the head of the Indian Air Force, travelled to forward sites in the Uri and Kupwara sectors that are close to the Line of Control (LoC). According to an official, the IAF head stopped by the LoC to celebrate Dussehra with the IAF and Army servicemen. He stated that the IAF chief's visit carried on the custom of senior government ministers and members of the Army brass celebrating holidays with soldiers in forward regions. "On the occasion of Dussehra, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari today visited forward locations near the Line of Control in the Uri and Kupwara sectors in Jammu and Kashmir to meet the Indian Air Force and Indian Army troops deployed there," according to an official.He added that during Dussehra, the visiting Air Chief Marshal had praised and encouraged the soldiers stationed along the Line of Control in north Kashmir. ACM Chaudhari met troops stationed in forward regions along the Line of Control on Diwali of last year. Notably, the Air Chief Marshal's visit occurs after Pakistani snipers wounded a soldier in the Karai sector of the Kupwara area last week. The Indian Army had increased border monitoring in the Kupwara bordering district after the fire incident. Badrinath Dham set to shut for winter on 18 Nov

UTTARAKHAND: Authorities announced on Tuesday that the Shri Badrinath Dham's portals in Uttarakhand will be closed for the winter starting on November 18. According to Ajendra Ajay, President of the Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), the decision was made during a religious ritual held on the temple grounds in honour of Vijayadashami today. Additionally, he added that pilgrim priests, religious leaders, and advocates for human rights were present at the event. Thousands of devotees gathered in the Dham to see the ritual, according to BKTC President Ajay.Earlier this year, on April 27, devotees were able to enter Shri Badrinath Dham. According to the Uttarakhand Police Headquarters earlier this month, by October 16 there will have been over 50 lakh pilgrims visiting Char-Dham. In addition, about 5,40,000 automobiles have made visits to Char-Dham. Following the start of the Yatra, more than 17,8000 pilgrims travelled to Kedarnath Dham, 15,9000 to Badrinath Dham, 8,46000 to Gangotri, 6,94,000 to Yamunotri, and more than 1,77000 to Hemkund Sahib.Meanwhile, the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee released an official statement stating that on November 14, the doors of Shri Gangotri Dham will close for the winter.
