LG participates in One Hour of citizen-led shramdaan for Swachhata at Dal Lake

SRINAGAR: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha oversaw the cleaning and weeding effort at Dal Lake as part of the One Hour of Citizen-Led Shramdaan for Swachhata programme. He joined the enormous group of people from all walks of life who had assembled to pay Mahatma Gandhi' swachhanjali'. "Our experiences in life are shaped by how we see our surroundings. He said the Swachh revolution across J&K is also providing new livelihood opportunities, creates more revenues and enhances the quality of life, and emphasised the commitment of the UT Administration to strengthen the Swachhata movement in the UT.The ODF PLUS status for 100% of the villages in J&K under the "Model" category was achieved, and the Lt Governor thanked the people and the government on this achievement at the UT-level event. This historic achievement, he noted, underscores our shared commitment to creating dream villages that are full of new potential and possibilities. The Swachhata Pledge was given to the officials and public by the Lt. Governor. He took part in the Char Chinar cleanup effort and also signalled the fleet of shikaras to go. The Lt Governor engaged with youngsters at Golden Island in Dal Lake and exhorted them to become "Swachhagrahis." The Shramdaan featured participation from high officials and notable figures from several sectors, including Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Lt. Governor's Advisor, and SMC Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu. J&K Govt suspends 2 police officers

JAMMU: The government of Jammu and Kashmir suspended two police officials on Sunday. Gowhar Ahmad Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police for Budgam, is suspended with immediate effect in accordance with Rule 31(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, pending an investigation into his behaviour, according to a home department order.According to the order from the Home Department, Adil Mushtaq, Deputy Superintendent of Police, PID No. KPS 155772, shall be deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from 21.09.2023, or the date of the Officer's arrest in case FIR No. 149/2023 under sections 7, 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and section 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of the IPC in P. The order also states that the officer must continue to be employed by Kashmir's Zonal Police headquarters during the suspension. Udhampur, Oct 1: An 84-year-old man from Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir converts a standard bicycle into an environmentally friendly e-cycle that is powered by solar energy and electricity. In Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, 84-year-old Munshi Ram converted a standard bicycle into an electric vehicle. In order to create his e-cycle, he used old laptop batteries and e-waste, drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Vocal for Local" and "Green India" campaigns. All Officers, Staff Of Hazratbal Shrine Suspended For Negligence Of Duties

SRINAGAR, Oct 1: The chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has ordered the suspension of all Hazratbal shrine authorities and workers for failing to perform their obligations on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). The order states that the measure was taken in response to complaints made by the public during the chairperson's unexpected visit to the Hazratbal shrine on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). People across country respond to PM appeal, participate in hour-long cleanliness drive

NEW DELHI: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for a nationwide cleanliness drive, people from all walks of life—from politicians to students—participated in an hour-long "shramdaan" on Sunday. More than 9.20 lakh sites nationwide have been adopted for the massive effort, claims the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. NEW DELHI, Oct 1: On Sunday, the price of jet fuel, or ATF, was increased by 5%, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase since July. In addition, the cost of commercial cooking gas, or LPG, was sharply increased by Rs 209 per 19-kg cylinder, in keeping with the firming up of international benchmarks. However, the cost of residential LPG, which is used to cook in domestic kitchens, remained constant at Rs 903 per 14.2-kg cylinder. According to a price statement from state-owned fuel dealers, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) increased by Rs 5,779.84 per kilolitre, or 5.1%, in the national capital to Rs 118,199.17 per kl from Rs 112,419.33.The hike follows the largest increase ever of 14.1% (Rs 13,911.07 per kilo) on September 1 and an increase of 8.5% (Rs 7,728.07 per kilo) on August 1. The burden on already struggling airlines will grow as a result of the fourth consecutive increase in jet fuel prices, which account for 40% of an airline's operating expenses. ATF price increased by 1.65% or Rs 1,476.79 per litre on July 1. ATF prices have increased by a record Rs 29,391.08 per kiloliter in just four rises.In addition, oil companies increased the cost of commercial LPG, which is used in places like hotels and restaurants, by Rs 209. The prices of cooking gas and ATF are revised by the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) on the first of every month based on the monthly average international price. For an unprecedented 18th consecutive month, the price of petrol and diesel remained frozen. They were lured into investing amounts between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 10,000. After investing, customers would be guaranteed daily profits of between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000. The stakes rose gradually as more people invested and confidence was established, and victims contributed thousands and even crores of rupees. These monies were subsequently put into various Bengaluru bank accounts. The money was then transferred into international bank accounts, where it was used to buy bitcoin for the cybercriminal gang controlling the bank accounts.The foreign group would then make various investments in foreign businesses with these cash. Law enforcement organisations seized computers, mobile phones, laptops, bank account information, credit cards, debit cards, swipe machines, SIM cards, printers, and chequebooks as part of the operation. Additionally, the CCB police have frozen Rs 5 crore in the accused's bank accounts. Joint security team foils infiltration bid along LoC, kills 2 terrorists

KUPWARA: In a combined operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian forces killed two terrorists while thwarting an infiltration attempt in the Machil sector of the Kupwara district, the Army announced in a statement on Saturday night. After the intelligence-based operation, the forces conducted a sweep of the area and found the bodies of the two terrorists. In addition, two AK series rifles and ammo were also found at the scene, according to the Army. The Indian Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and several intelligence agencies provided information about infiltration efforts made by a group of 2-4 terrorists in the Macchal sector of Kupwara, according to the release."On the evening of September 29 and 30, the Indian Army and JKP conducted a joint operation in General Area Gucchi Nar in the Machil Sector.
