NEW DELHI: Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the IPL, announced on Wednesday that the highly awaited Asia Cup games between India and Pakistan will take place in Sri Lanka because the team lead by Rohit Sharma won’t visit Pakistan.Dhumal, who is in Durban for the ICC Chief Executives Meet (CEC), revealed that the PCB representative head Zaka Ashraf and BCCI secretary Jay Shah met to settle the programme before the ICC Board meeting slated for Thursday. The Asia Cup programme was finalised and is proceeding as planned when our secretary met with PCB head Zaka Ashraf. There would be four league stage games in Pakistan, then nine games, plus an additional game if both teams get to the final, in Sri Lanka, according to Dhumal. He denied media rumours that India might visit a bordering nation, as claimed by Pakistan’s sports minister Ehsan Mazari in some circles. “Such a talk wasn’t held. Contrary to rumours that have surfaced, neither India nor our secretary will be visiting Pakistan. Only the schedule was decided upon, Dhumal continued. Like the 2010 edition, India will most likely play Pakistan in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla. The sole home game for Pakistan will be against the underdog Nepal.
