MENDHAR/JAMMU: In the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, army troops opened fire on a Pakistani drone a short distance from the Line of Control (LoC), according to officials on Monday. However, late on Sunday night, the drone returned to Pakistan after passing momentarily over Indian territory, according to the officials. They said that the enemy drone’s movement was detected in the Mendhar neighbourhood of Nar Mankote, and that the soldiers manning the Line of Control fired at least three shots to bring it down. The officials stated that a search operation is in progress in the area and that the drone retreated to the Pakistani side in response to gunfire by Indian troops. Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir police announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh for anyone providing information that leads to the recovery of explosive devices, weapons, or drugs dropped from drones flown from over the border.
