JAMMU, Oct 15: An army member was hurt by a landmine explosion on Sunday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, a police officer reported. According to the official, Rifleman Gurucharan Singh was on patrol when he unintentionally stepped on a landmine in the advanced Kalsian village in the Nowshera sector. He was taken to a military hospital close by, where he received first aid before being flown to Command Hospital Udhampur for expert care, according to the official. In order to prevent armed terrorists from infiltrating from this side, the army uses landmines to block potential infiltration routes. However, occasionally the explosive devices become dislodged owing to rain, which results in unintended explosions.
