Poonch, Jan 14: Early on Sunday morning, a large fire started in a wooded region close to Dera ki Gali in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. With the assistance of security services, the Indian Army managed to contain the fire, sparing numerous lives as well as damage to infrastructure. “Prompt and speedy response of #IndianArmy saved many lives and infrastructure, when massive forest fire broke near #DeraKiGali and endangered Civil and Army Infrastructure. The PRO (Public Relations Officer) of Defence Jammu stated in a post on “X” that “fire was brought under control in #DeraKiGali with coordinated and synergistic efforts of civ agencies and security forces.”A brief video clip of the action, in which military men could be seen putting out the fires, was also posted by PRO Defence. A major fire that started earlier in December destroyed millions of rupees’ worth of forest treasure in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh’s Patlikuhal forest area. Huge flames could be seen shooting out of the nearby forest.
