Anantnag, Jan 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Police reported that it had apprehended three people in the Anantnag area and found 9.27 kg of charas powder and 867 bottles of illicit alcohol. Following their apprehension, the Mattan police station filed a complaint under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as well as other provisions of the Excise Act. There is currently an ongoing investigation, according to a formal statement. According to the statement, two cars, a motorbike, and money totaling Rs 13,325 were also taken from the accused’s possession.In addition, the statement stated that Anantnag Police had learned through credible sources that a family living in Seer Hamdan Mattan, consisting of a father, mother, and son—Mohd Ramzan Ganai, Shahzada Akhter, and Zubair Ramzan Ganai—was “continually indulging in the illegal trade of illicit alcohol as well as cannabis charas powder under a well-planned criminal conspiracy.” The statement went on to claim that the three had hidden large amounts of illegal alcohol and cannabis charas powder in specifically constructed hiding places inside their cars and residential homes. According to the statement, a search team made up of the relevant Executive Magistrate and Anantnag Police was formed to search the house.Approximately 9.27 kg of charas powder and 867 bottles of illegal alcohol were found during the search. All three of the suspects were taken into custody. The statement also stated that there is still ongoing investigation into the current issue. According to the statement, the police have asked anyone with information about drug dealers in the area to come forward.
