We are determined to eradicate naxalism in all its manifestations because it is a blight on humanity. We are determined to eradicate naxalism in all its manifestations because it is a blight on humanity. In order to forward our efforts to realise PM @narendramodi Ji’s vision of a country free of left wing extremism, I’m excited to preside over the Review Meeting on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in New Delhi today, Shah wrote on ‘X’. The summit, which is conducted periodically, strives to carry out the central government’s commitment to the advancement of states afflicted by left-wing extremists as well as the creation of a LWE-free country. Due to the combined efforts of the Centre and the states in combating Left Wing Extremism with a sharp decline in naxal events, a lot of success can be seen in this area over the past several years. However, the central government came to the conclusion that the country and the states affected by the Left Wing Extremism problem cannot fully grow unless the problem is entirely eradicated. For many years, left-wing extremism has posed a serious security threat. Despite being primarily a state concern, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has since 2015 published a “National Policy and Action Plan” to address the Left Wing Extremism threat holistically. The progress and situation are rigorously monitored, and this Policy takes a multi-pronged approach. The policy’s key elements include zero tolerance for violence and a strong emphasis on development initiatives so that the poor and vulnerable in the impacted areas can benefit from development.By deploying CAPF Battalions, providing helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles, and authorising India Reserve Battalions (IRBs) and Special India Reserve Battalions (SIRBs), the Ministry of Home Affairs is assisting the State Governments in strengthening their security apparatus in accordance with the policy. For the modernization and training of State Police, funds are also provided through the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Scheme, Special Infrastructure Scheme (SIS), and Modernization of Police Force (MPF) programmes. The Indian government has approved 17,600 km of new roads as part of its numerous development projects for the states impacted by left-wing extremism. New cell towers are being erected in areas hit by Left Wing Extremism to enhance telecom coverage.Several post offices, bank branches, ATMs, and banking correspondents have been opened to help the people in areas afflicted by left wing extremism become financially included. Additionally, the establishment of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) is being given special attention. The government is confident that the threat of Left Wing Extremism will soon be reduced to an inconsequential level as the campaign against it enters a crucial phase.
