Amarnath Yatra Temporarily Suspended Due To Inclement Weather

Srinagar, July 16: Officials said Amarnath yatra has been temporarily suspended from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to inclement weather on Sunday. They claimed that due to bad weather, no yatri was permitted to leave the customary Nunwan Pahalgam base camp in south Kashmir or Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal region today.
They claimed that because it was still pouring in a number of locations along both routes and at the Cave shrine, the roads were at times slick. The officials “decided to suspend the yatra until the weather improves” in light of the poor weather, they continued. On Friday, no pilgrim was permitted to travel by foot or horse from the shortest Baltal path via Dumail to the Amarnath Cave sanctuary to offer homage there. The number of pilgrims who visited the cave shrine since the pilgrimage’s start on July 1 has reached two lakh with the addition of 21401 visitors on Saturday.
