SRINAGAR: On October 11, President Draupadi Murmu will make her maiden trip to Srinagar, and security has been stepped up all across the Kashmir Valley in preparation. Days before the VVIP visit, Kashmir University’s campus is being sanitised in accordance with the President’s security procedure. In Kashmir, more security personnel have been stationed, particularly near the university campus. According to officials, a three-tier security grid will be set up during the President’s visit, and drone surveillance will be conducted at the location. An incident-free event will be guaranteed using both human and technical resources. Despite the lack of precise inputs, security precautions have been stepped up to ward against adversarial forces. According to reports, security forces have increased frisking not only in Srinagar but also in other parts of Kashmir, particularly at numerous locations along the Srinagar-Jammu, Srinagar-Baramulla, and other routes. The President will speak at Kashmir University’s 20th commencement on her maiden trip there, as well as recognise deserving students starting in 2020. During the ceremony, more than 400 students will be awarded gold medals as well as M.Phil. and PhD degrees. There will be a nighttime light and sound show near the Dal Lake in her honour following the convocation. Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, will also attend the convocation.
